Genesis (Grimes Song)
"Genesis" is a song by Canadian singer and songwriter Grimes, released on January 9, 2012 as the lead single from her third studio album, '' Visions'' (2012). The song is one of Grimes' most successful releases so far, as a result of the song's music videos becoming viral, mostly through micro-blogging site Tumblr. The ''NME'' placed the song at number 16 on its list of 50 Best Tracks of 2012. Music video The self-directed video for "Genesis" premiered on August 22, 2012. It was filmed in Los Angeles and co-stars rapper and stripper Brooke Candy, whom Grimes describes as "a very contemporary muse". In the video, Grimes is seen alongside a group of friends while driving an Escalade in the desert, holding an albino python in the back of a limousine, and posing in the woods. Claire Elise Boucher (; born March 17, 1988), known professionally as Grimes, is a Canadian musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. Her early work has been described as extending from "Lo-fi music, lo-fi Contemporary R&B, R&B" to futuristic dance-pop, and has incorporated influences from electronic music, Hip hop music, hip hop, and Rock music, rock. Her lyrics often touch on science fiction and Feminism, feminist themes. She has released five studio albums. The Cadillac Escalade is a full-size luxury SUV engineered and manufactured by General Motors. It was Cadillac's first major entry into the SUV market. ''The Seven Deadly Sins and the Four Last Things'' is a painting attributed to Hieronymus Bosch. or to a follower of his, completed around 1500 or later. Since 1898 its authenticity has been questioned several times. In 2015 the Bosch Research Conservation Project claimed it to be by a follower, but scholars at the Prado, where the painting hangs, dismissed this argument. Hieronymus Bosch (, ; born Jheronimus van Aken ; – 9 August 1516) was a Dutch/Netherlandish painter from Brabant. Brooke Dyan Candy (born July 20, 1989) is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and tattoo artist. Raised in the suburbs of Los Angeles, daughter of Tom Candy, former CFO of ''Hustler Magazine'', Brooke rose to prominence after starring in Grimes' music video for "Genesis" (2012).
