The Rust-Oleum Automotive Finishes 100 (formerly the Southern Illinois 100) is an ARCA Menards Series stock car race held annually on the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds Racetrack during the DuQuoin State Fair on Labor Day weekend. Race history The first 100-mile stock car race at the track was held in 1950. It has been a part of a national stock car circuit annually since 1954. AAA sanctioned the race until 1955, USAC from 1956 to 1984, and ARCA took over solely in 1985 after co-sanctioning the race in 1983 and 1984. DuQuoin State Fairgrounds Racetrack
DuQuoin State Fairgrounds Racetrack is a one-mile (1.6-km) clay oval motor racetrack in Du Quoin, Illinois, about southeast of St Louis, Missouri. It is a stop on the ARCA Menards Series, USAC Silver Crown Series and American Flat Track. History The DuQuoin State Fair was founded in 1923 by local businessman William R. "W.R." Hayes, who owned the fair and ran it. (It did not become run by the state of Illinois as a true "state fair" until the 1980s; it is now officially called the Illinois State Fair in DuQuoin, as opposed to the longtime one at state capital Springfield.) At the start Hayes had a half-mile harness-racing track on his 30-acre site, with wooden grandstands that seated 3000. ARCA Menards Series
The ARCA Menards Series is an American stock car series, the premier division of the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA). It is considered a minor, semi-professional league of stock car racing, used as a feeder series into the three national touring series of NASCAR, and hosts events at a variety of track types including superspeedways, road courses, and dirt tracks. The series has had a longstanding relationship with NASCAR, including using former NASCAR Cup Series cars, hosting events in the same race weekend such as Daytona Speedweeks, and naming an award after NASCAR founder Bill France, Sr. However, the series was not officially affiliated with NASCAR until its buyout on April 27, 2018. Don White (racing Driver)
Don White (June 24, 1928 – April 29, 2016) was an American stock car racing from Keokuk, Iowa. He won two USAC Stock Car championships in the 1960s and was the series' winningest driver. White also had 24 starts in the NASCAR Grand National / Winston Cup series between 1954 and 1972 with 12 top-ten and 7 top-five finishes. At his death in 2016, he was the oldest living winner in ARCA history. He also won three IMCA championships: 1954, 1955 and 1958. Racing career White started his first national race in 1949. This IMCA race happened at Cedar Rapids, Iowa; he was second place before retiring because of mechanical problems. White won IMCA championships in 1954, 1955, and 1958. By the time that he ended IMCA racing in 1958, he had won at every track on the circuit. White's biggest competitor in IMCA was his brother-in-law Ernie Derr. The season began on February 10, 2007 at Daytona International Speedway with the Daytona ARCA 200 and ended on October 14, 2007 at Toledo Speedway with the Hantz Group 200. The 2006 ARCA Re/Max Series was the 54th season of the ARCA Racing Series, a division of the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA). The season was scheduled to begin on February 11, 2006 with the Daytona ARCA 200 at Daytona International Speedway, but the race was delayed until February 12 because of rain. The season ended with the Prairie Meadows 250 at Iowa Speedway eight months later. The 2005 ARCA Re/Max Series was the 53rd season of the ARCA Racing Series, a division of the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA). The season was scheduled to begin on February 7, 2005, with the Advance Discount Auto Parts 200 at Daytona International Speedway, and ended with the Food World 300 at Talladega Superspeedway eight months later. Frank Kimmel
Francis James Kimmel (born April 30, 1962) is an American former stock car racing driver. He competed primarily in the ARCA Racing Series, from 1990 through 2016. Kimmel is the most successful driver in ARCA history. He has won the ARCA championship ten times, including eight consecutive. He won the championship in 1998 and also won the 2000 through 2007 championships, and again in 2013. Kimmel is currently the general manager for KBR Development, which fields the No. 28 Chevrolet in the ARCA Series. From after the end of his driving career in 2017 through 2019, he returned to Venturini Motorsports (the team he drove for part-time in 2015) as a crew chief and a driving coach for their drivers, such as Leilani Munter, Gavin Harlien, and Hailie Deegan. Robert Earl Schacht (born January 24, 1950) is an American stock car racing driver. Now retired, he is a native of Lombard, Illinois. He competed in 26 NASCAR events between 1981 and 1997 in the Winston Cup, Busch Series, and Craftsman Truck Series. He had no Top 10 finishes in NASCAR; he is best known for his ARCA career. Bob Brevak (born March 28, 1947) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He was the champion of the ARCA RE/MAX Series in 1990. Racing career Brevak began racing in the United States Auto Club (USAC)'s stock car series between 1972 and 1983. He earned his first USAC Stock Car pole position at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds in 1979. He earned his second pole at Winchester Speedway in 1981. While competing in USAC, he began racing in Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) events in 1982 including some events run under dual sanction plus a few American Speed Association (ASA) events. Robert Allen Keselowski (August 1, 1951 – December 22, 2021) was an American professional stock car racing driver. He owned K Automotive Racing and was a competitor in the ARCA Hooters SuperCar Series and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Racing career In the ARCA Series, he had 24 wins, 26 poles, and a 1989 championship. Keselowski was one of the original drivers in the Camping World Truck Series in 1995 when it raced under the name the NASCAR SuperTruck Series. After finishing 15th in the inaugural season, he finished 16th in the second season. Keselowski won his only NASCAR race when he won the 1997 Virginia Is For Lovers 200 at Richmond International Raceway. Lee Raymond (October 2, 1954 – December 12, 2013) was an American stock car racing driver. A two-time champion of the ARCA SuperCar Series, he also competed in NASCAR racing in the 1989 Daytona 500. Racing career A resident of Dayton, Ohio, Raymond made his debut in ARCA Racing Series competition in 1979. His career in the series ran through 1993; over the course of his career he won seven races and nine poles in the series, he won the series' Rookie of the Year award in 1982, and won back to back championships in the series in 1985 and 1986.
