Lieutenant General Bobby Mathews, PVSM, AVSM & Bar, VSM is an Indian Army officer who is an alumnus of the prestigious National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla. He is a second generation army officer and has been General Officer Commanding of the Konark Corps (XII Corps), India's only Desert Corps. The General holds a MSc & MPhil Degree from Madras University. Military career The General Officer was commissioned on 16 December 1978 into 2 KUMAON (The Kumaon Regiment), one of the oldest and most decorated regiments of the Indian Army. He commanded his Battalion 2 KUMAON (BERAR) in Counter-insurgency Operations in Manipur. He went on to command a Mountain Brigade and the Striking Lion Mountain Division in the Eastern Theatre, during which he was responsible for coordinating relief and reconstruction work during the 2011 Sikkim earthquake. Bruce Matthews (Canadian Army Officer)
Major General Albert Bruce Matthews (August 12, 1909 – September 12, 1991) was a senior Canadian Army officer and businessman in the 1930s. He rose to be the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2nd Canadian Infantry Division during the Second World War, after campaigns in Sicily and Italy. He became noted for his personal bravery and the accuracy and reliability of the artillery under his command. Post-war, his business career continued. In addition, he was active in the Canadian Liberal Party. Francis Matthews (British Army Officer)
Major General Francis Raymond Gage Matthews CB DSO (26 January 1903 – 26 May 1976) was a British Army officer who served in the Second World War and later was Commander of British Forces in Hong Kong. Military career After graduating from the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Matthews was commissioned into the York and Lancaster Regiment on 1 February 1923. He transferred to the South Wales Borderers in 1935 while aide-de-camp to the Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Malta. He served in Palestine during the Arab revolt in Palestine, for which he was later mentioned in dispatches, before returning to the United Kingdom where he attended the Staff College, Camberley from 1937 to 1938. George Mathews (soldier)
George Mathews (August 30, 1739 – August 30, 1812) was an American soldier and politician from the U.S. States of Virginia and Georgia. He was a brevet brigadier general in the Continental Army, the 20th and 24th Governor of Georgia, a U.S. Representative from Georgia, and the leading participant in the Patriot War of East Florida. Born in Augusta County in the Virginia Colony, Mathews was in early life a merchant and planter. As an officer in the colonial militia, he gained statewide fame for his role in the Battle of Point Pleasant of Dunmore's War. He was afterward elected to the House of Burgesses from Augusta County, but did not attend a session. On the outbreak of the American Revolutionary War, he served as colonel of the 9th Virginia Regiment in the Continental Army. Joane Mathews
Joane K. Mathews is a retired brigadier general in the Wisconsin Army National Guard. Career and education Mathews received her commission in the United States Army through the Reserve Officers' Training Corps in 1986 and was assigned to the United States Army Aviation School. She later flew in several missions during Operation Provide Comfort. In 1997, Mathews transferred to the Wisconsin Army National Guard. She was named Chief of Staff in 2013.
