Gene Stechschulte
Eugene Urban Stechschulte (born August 12, 1973) is a former Major League Baseball player who pitched for the St. Louis Cardinals from 2000-2002. Stechschulte began his professional baseball career in the Cardinals' minor league system in 1996 as an undrafted free agent. In 1998, he led the league with 33 saves and 51 games finished in Peoria. In 1999, he led the Arkansas Travelers with 19 saves. In 2000, he was second in the Pacific Coast League with 26 saves. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk.
