David Gemmell
David Andrew Gemmell (; 1 August 1948 – 28 July 2006) was a British author of heroic fantasy, best known for his debut novel, ''Legend (Gemmell novel), Legend''. A former journalist and newspaper editor, Gemmell had his first work of fiction published in 1984. He went on to write over thirty novels. Gemmell's works display violence, yet also explore themes of honour, loyalty and redemption. There is always a strong heroic theme but nearly always the heroes are flawed in some way. With over one million copies sold, his work continues to sell worldwide. The David Gemmell Awards for Fantasy were awarded from 2009 to 2018, with a stated goal to "restore fantasy to its proper place in the literary pantheon". Andrew Gemmell
Andrew Douglas Gemmell (born February 20, 1991) is an American competition swimmer who specialized in long-distance freestyle events. He swam for the University of Georgia, helping then to place 5th in the NCAA in 2014, and was a member of the 2012 United States Olympic Team, where he competed in the 1,500-meter freestyle event at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. At the Olympics, he finished ninth with a time of 14:59:05, missing the semi-finals by one place. Tommy Gemmell
Thomas Gemmell (16 October 1943 – 2 March 2017) was a Scottish football player and manager. Although right-footed, he excelled as a left-sided fullback and had powerful shooting ability. Gemmell is best known as one of the Celtic side who won the 1966–67 European Cup; he scored the first Celtic goal in the final. Gemmell played 18 times for Scotland, and also played for Nottingham Forest, Miami Toros and Dundee. After retiring as a player in 1977, Gemmell managed Dundee and Albion Rovers. Playing career Celtic In October 1961, Gemmell joined Celtic from Coltness United; he signed youth terms on the same day as right winger Jimmy Johnstone, who lived a few miles away and would also have a long association with the club. Dean Gemmell
Dean Gemmell (born August 27, 1967) is a Canadian-American curler and writer who currently resides in Short Hills, New Jersey. Along with John Morris, he is the co-author of the book ''Fit to Curl, Sport Specific Training for the World's Greatest Game''. Career Gemmell began curling in 1978 as a junior in Ontario. After moving to Montreal, Quebec in 1986, he played as lead for Lawren Steventon and won the Quebec Men's Provincial Curling Championship in 1988, earning an opportunity to represent Quebec at the 1988 Labatt Brier. Quebec finished in eighth place with a 4–7 win–loss record. Gemmell moved to the United States in 1991, and did not return to curling until he moved to New Jersey in 2006 and curls out of the Plainfield Curling Club in club play. Keith Gemmell
Keith Gemmell (15 February 1948 – 24 July 2016) was a British musician. He played saxophone, clarinet, and flute, and was best known for being a member of art rock band Audience from 1969 to 1972 and from 2004 to 2016. He was also a musical arranger and composer, published digital sheet music, wrote articles for the UK publication ''Music Tech Magazine'', and was the author of several books including the best-seller ''Cubase Tips & Tricks''. Kris Gemmell
Kris Gemmell (born 28 April 1977, in Palmerston North) is a New Zealand triathlete, and 2002 World Aquathon Champion in Cancún, Mexico. He has also competed in the 2002 and 2006 Commonwealth Games finishing 6th and 5th respectively. Kris Gemmell has been racing on the International Triathlon Union (ITU) World Cup circuit since 1998 and has had numerous wins and podium finishes. Ian James Gemmell (born 6 April 1953) is a former English cricketer. Gemmell was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm fast-medium. He was born in Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire. Jimmy Gemmell
James Gemmell (17 November 1880 – after 1911) was a Scottish footballer who played in the Football League for Stoke, Sunderland and Leeds City as an inside forward. Club career Gemmell was born in Glasgow and played for Duntocher Hibernian and Clyde before joining Sunderland in 1900. He made his debut for Sunderland on 8 December 1900 against Sheffield Wednesday in a 1–0 win at Roker Park. He was at Sunderland in two different spells; in 1900–07 and 1910–12 respectively, separated by a stay at Leeds United. During his first stay at Sunderland, he won the 1902 English Football League Championship. Gemmell made 213 league appearances for Sunderland, scoring 46 goals.
