Ardenis ( hy, Արդենիս) is a village and rural community (municipality) in the Shirak Province of Armenia. History The village had a mixed Armenian- Azerbaijani population. During the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Azerbaijani residents left for Azerbaijan. Gelli Bridge is a Grade II listed two-arch bridge spanning the River Syfynwy a few yards before its confluence with the Eastern Cleddau The River Cleddau ( cy, Afon Cleddau) consists of the Eastern and Western Cleddau rivers in Pembrokeshire, west Wales. They unite to form the Daugleddau estuary and the important harbour of Milford Haven. The name of the combined estuary – .... The Gelli
The Gelli is a small country house situated between Tallarn Green and Tybroughton in Wrexham County Borough, Wales. It is a Grade II* listed building standing in a prominent position on the edge of a hill. History The Gelli was designed by the Chester architect John Douglas and built in 1877 for the Honourables Georgina and Henrietta Kenyon, who were the daughters of the 3rd Baron Kenyon of Gredlington. Architecture The house is built in three ranges (wings), each at right angles to each, other forming a zigzag or "domino" shape. It is constructed mainly in brick, with red sandstone and terracotta dressings, and with some timber framing in the upper storey. The roofs are tiled and the chimney stacks are brick. Gelli is a small settlement in the community and parish of Llawhaden, Pembrokeshire, Wales, at the confluence of the Syfynwy and Cleddau Ddu rivers. Gelli, Rhondda
Gelli is a village in the Rhondda Fawr valley, in the county borough of Rhondda Cynon Taff, Wales, situated on the southern bank of the Rhondda Fawr River. Gelli is a former coal mining village which is a district of the community of Ystrad. Early and industrial history The village of Gelli takes its name from a farm that was once found in the area, which translates from the Welsh language roughly as 'small wood or copse'. Before the industrialisation of the area there were few settlements in the area, mainly small agricultural and farm buildings. Archeological finds in the area have provided proof of earlier populations, mainly Bronze Age, though Gelli does house one of only two definite Romano-British finds in the Rhondda Valleys. Roman finds in the uplands of Glamorgan are scarce, but the settlement at Hen Dre'r Gelli, excavated in 1903, is the only undefended settlement of its type in the Rhondda. Ramesh Gelli is an Indian banking executive who served as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Vysya Bank and was a promoter and CMD of Global Trust Bank. Gelli set up GTB in 1993 along with Jayant Madhab, a top official of the Asian Development Bank. In 2001, Gelli was removed from his position of CMD of GTB and later from its board by India's banking regulator, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) following a failed merger attempt. Sir Gelli Meyrick (also Gelly or Gilly) (1556? – 13 March 1601) was a Welsh supporter of Robert Devereux, 2nd Earl of Essex, and conspirator in Essex's rebellion. He was executed for his part in it. Life He was the eldest son of Rowland Meyrick, bishop of Bangor (Gwynedd), by Katherine, daughter of Owain Barret of Gelliswic. After his father's death in 1565 he spent his youth with his mother on the family estate of Hascard in Pembrokeshire. At an early age he became a soldier and served in the Netherlands, receiving in 1583 the grant of a crest. He soon became acquainted with Robert Devereux, Earl of Essex, who owned property in Wales. He attended the Earl at Flushing in 1585, and joined in the campaigns under Robert Dudley, 1st Earl of Leicester in the Low Countries in that and the following year. Licio Gelli (; April 21, 1919 – December 15, 2015) was an Italian financier. A Fascist volunteer in his youth, he is chiefly known for his role in the Banco Ambrosiano scandal. He was revealed in 1981 as being the Venerable Master of the clandestine masonic lodge Propaganda Due (P2). Early life Gelli was born in Pistoia, Tuscany. During the 1930s, Gelli volunteered for the Blackshirts expeditionary forces sent by Mussolini in support of Francisco Franco's rebellion in the Spanish Civil War.
