Gelbison
Gelbison were an Australian pop rock band formed in 2000 by Pete Farley on bass guitar, Dave Galafassi on drums, Edo Kahn on vocals and guitar, and his brother Nadav Kahn on vocals and keyboards. The Kahn brothers were also members of Nations by the River (2003–04). Gelbison released two studio albums, ''1704'' (7 April 2003) and ''See the World'' (8 November 2004), and disbanded in 2007. Nations By The River
Nations by the River was a side project by Luke Steele (Sleepy Jackson) Ohad Rein ( Old Man River) and the Kahn Brothers (Gelbison) that occurred in 2003 to 2004. Nations by the River only created a single album, ''Holes in the Valley'', before the members went back to their main bands. Biography Nations By The River formed during the Gelbison/The Sleepy Jackson tour of early 2003, when Luke Steele (Sleepy Jackson) and Edo Kahn (Gelbison) started jamming and writing songs in a car park after misplacing their van's keys. Dove Kahn soon joined in and Nations By The River was established as a side project for the three. Ohad Rein (Old Man River) and Edo Kahn co-wrote the song "Lovers", and shortly after Ohad joined the group. The album was recorded in three days as a stripped-back and live experience with engineer/co-producer Scott Horscroft (Sun, The Husbands). Old Man River (musician)
Old Man River is the stage name of Australian-Israeli singer-songwriter Ohad Rein ( he, אוהד ריין, , born 18 April 1979), which is also the name of his band. At the APRA Awards of 2009, "Sunshine", co-written by Old Man River, won the Blues & Roots Work of the Year category. Biography Ohad Rein was born on 18 April 1979 and grew up in Sydney ( Australia). His parents are Israeli immigrants. He moved to Europe with his family at a very early age before moving to Israel where he served in the local army during his formative years. He spent many years abroad before returning to Sydney. He collaborated with Sydney band, Gelbison, touring with the band and co-writing some of the tracks which appear on his debut album ''Good Morning''. Luke James Steele (born 13 December 1979) is an Australian musician, singer and songwriter. Steele is the vocalist and primary songwriter of the alternative rock band the Sleepy Jackson and is a member of the electronic music duo Empire of the Sun. Early life Steele was born in Auckland, New Zealand, on 13 December 1979.. He then moved to Perth, Western Australia. Luke attended Yokine Primary School and Mount Lawley Senior High School. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where Dunedin sound, a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's University of Otago, large student population. Machine Translations is the performing name of Greg James Walker (born 1967), an Australian singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist; who is also a producer as J Walker. Edward Charles Nimmervoll (21 September 1947 – 10 October 2014) was an Australian music journalist, author and historian. He worked on rock and pop magazines ''Go-Set'' (1966–1974) and ''Juke Magazine'' (1975–92) both as a journalist and as an editor.
