Geirmund Simonsen
Glittertind is a Norwegian indie folk-rock band, which started up as a one-man project in 2001 featuring Torbjørn Sandvik as the driving force. In 2010, the band had a full line-up that consisted of Sandvik doing vocals and rhythm-guitar, Geirmund Simonsen playing accordion, rhythm-guitars, programming, Stefan Theofilakis on flutes, Geir Holm on drums, Olav Aasbø on lead-guitar, and Bjørn Nordstoga on bass. Biography Glittertind started out as a one-man project where Torbjørn Sandvik released ''Evige Asatro'' (2004) and ''Til Dovre Faller'' (2005) on the Dutch label Karmageddon Media. The records were inspired by the big narratives in history and the music mixed elements from punk, heavy metal and folk. In 2008, Geirmund Simonsen became a part of the project. ''Landkjenning'' ( en , Land sighting) is the second full-length album by the Norwegian folk rock band Glittertind, released on May 27, 2009 through Napalm Records. All instruments and vocals were done by Torbjørn Sandvik and Geirmund Simonsen except the following instruments handled by session members: Harding fiddle by Erlend Viken, flutes by Stefan Theofilakis and cello by Kaja Fjellberg Pettersen. It was released on Norway's constitution day, May 17, 2005 through Karmageddon Media, 100 years after Norway's independence from Sweden in 1905. The record was originally intended to be a full-length album. However, to reach the deadline for this symbolic release-date it came out as a seven-track mini-album. The record was dedicated to freedom, democracy and the people fighting for it throughout the years of Norwegian history. Norway got its constitution in 1814 and this album lasts for 18 minutes and 14 seconds in total - 18:14. The title "Eternal Asatru" was taken from the last part of the non-finished opera Olav Tryggvason composed by Edvard Grieg and written by Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson.
