Geeta Kapur
Geeta Kapur (born 1943) is a noted Indian art critic, art historian and curator based in New Delhi. She was one of the pioneers of critical art writing in India, and who, as ''Indian Express'' noted, has "dominated the field of Indian contemporary art theory for three decades now". Her writings include artists' monographs, exhibition catalogues, books, and sets of widely anthologized essays on art, film, and cultural theory. She has written various books, including ''Contemporary Indian Artists'' (1978), ''When Was Modernism: Essays on Contemporary Cultural Practice in India'' (2000) and ''Critic’s Compass: Navigating Practice'' (forthcoming). Geeta Kapoor is an Indian choreographer and television personality. Currently she is judging “India’s Best Dancer”, a dance reality show on Sony TV along with Malaika Arora and Terence Lewis. Career Kapoor started her career when she joined the troupe of noted Bollywood choreographer Farah Khan at the age of 15. She later assisted Farah Khan in many films, including Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Mohabbatein, Kal Ho Na Ho, Main Hoon Na, and Om Shanti Om, and the musical Bombay Dreams (2004). Marg (magazine)
''Marg'' (''Pathway'') is a quarterly Indian art magazine and a publisher of books on the arts, based in Mumbai. It began in 1946, with writer Mulk Raj Anand as its founding editor. He intended it to be a loose encyclopaedia of the arts of India and related civilizations. The magazine was mainly funded by J.R.D. Tata of the Tata Group at its inception. Later on, after 1951 and until 1986, it was mostly funded by the Tata Group companies; then the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) was formed as a trust with Marg as a division of NCPA. Fine Art
In European academic traditions, fine art is developed primarily for aesthetics or creative expression, distinguishing it from decorative art or applied art, which also has to serve some practical function, such as pottery or most metalwork. In the aesthetic theories developed in the Italian Renaissance, the highest art was that which allowed the full expression and display of the artist's imagination, unrestricted by any of the practical considerations involved in, say, making and decorating a teapot. Miranda House
Miranda House is a constituent college for women at the University of Delhi in India. Established in 1948, it is one of the top ranked colleges of the country and ranked as number 1 for consecutively six years (as of 2022). History Miranda House was founded in 1948 by the university vice-chancellor, Sir Maurice Gwyer. In a magazine published by him in 1952, he wrote three reasons as to why the college was called Miranda. Anuradha Kapur
Anuradha Kapur is an Indian theatre director and professor of drama. She taught at the National School of Drama (NSD) for over three decades and was the Director of National School of Drama for six years (2007–2013). For her work as a theatre director, the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award was conferred on her in 2004. In 2016, she was awarded the J. Vasanthan Lifetime Achievement Award for excellence in theatre.
