Geert is a Dutch given name of Germanic origin, equivalent to the German Gerd and the English Gerry. The name is a condensed form of Gerard, itself a combination of the Germanic words ''ger'' (spear) and ''hard'' (strong or brave) meaning "strong" or "brave with the spear". Geert Den Ouden
Gijsbertus Cornelis "Geert" den Ouden (born 24 July 1976) is a Dutch former professional footballer who played as a striker. While at Djurgårdens IF, he became the first-ever Dutchman to play in Allsvenskan and helped the team win the 2003 Allsvenskan and 2004 Svenska Cupen titles. Career Early career Den Ouden has extensive experience playing in his native Netherlands, having made over 150 appearances for clubs such as SBV Excelsior and RBC Roosendaal since turning professional in 1998. Geert Ludzer Mak (born 4 December 1946 in Vlaardingen) is a Dutch journalist and non-fiction writer. Honors For his book ''In Europe: Travels through the Twentieth Century'' he received the Leipziger Buchpreis zur Europäische Verständigung (2008) and the Otto von der Gablentz Prize (2009). The French government also awarded him the Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur (2008). Geert Lovink
Geert Lovink (born 1959, Amsterdam) is the founding director of the Institute of Network Cultures, whose goals are to explore, document and feed the potential for socio-economical change of the new media field through events, publications and open dialogue. As theorist, activist and net critic, Lovink has made an effort in helping to shape the development of the web. Since 2004 Lovink is a researcher at the Faculty of Digital Media and Creative Industries at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam (HvA) where he heads the Institute of Network Cultures. Gerardus Johannes (Geert) Lap (born Venlo, 24 December 1951- 26 April 2017 ) was a Dutch ceramist, known for his new approach to ceramics characterized as clay minimalism. Life and work Geert Lap studied at the AKV St. Joost from 1974 to 1976, and at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie is from 1976 to 1979 under Jan van der Vaart. Geert Jan Jansen (born 1943) is a Dutch painter and art forger, who was arrested in 1994. Geert Jan Jansen was born in Waalre in the Netherlands. His engineer father was fond of art and Jansen became an art student. He befriended a US art dealer, , who ran a gallery called ''Mokum'' in Amsterdam. Later, Jansen opened his own galleries, ''Jacob'' and ''Raam'', but was not particularly successful. When his business went badly, he decided to sign posters of Karel Appel's lithographs and sell them as originals. Later, he made his first Karel Appel forgery and sold it for 2,600 guilders. Thus encouraged, he sent another forgery to London; auction house sent a photograph to Appel, who stated that it was genuine. The gouache was sold at a record price. Gerard Hendrik (Geert) Hofstede (2 October 1928 – 12 February 2020) was a Dutch social psychologist, IBM employee, and Professor Emeritus of Organizational Anthropology and International Management at Maastricht University in the Netherlands, well known for his pioneering research on cross-cultural groups and organizations. Geert Hendrik Hammink (born 12 July 1969) is a Dutch former basketball player and current coach. He is the current head coach of the Skyliners Frankfurt of the German Basketball Bundesliga.
