Marie Geelmuyden
Marie Geelmuyden (born 22 July 1856 in Horten, died 21 May 1935) was a Norwegian chemist, teacher and textbook author. She was the first Norwegian woman to receive a degree in science. Biography She was the daughter of Christian Torber Hegge Geelmuyden (1816-1885) and Jensine Sophie Horn (1825-1913). The father was from the Dutch Geelmuyden family and was a naval commander, author of science textbooks and mayor of Horten. The mother was the daughter of a customs inspector in Risør. Hans Geelmuyden (10 January 1844 – 1 May 1920) was a Norwegian astronomer. He was born in Stavern. He was a relative of Ivar Christian Sommerschild Geelmuyden and Carl Victor Emanuel Geelmuyden, and the family had migrated from the Dutch Republic during the seventeenth century. Hans Geelmuyden was a grandfather of the writer of the same name. From 1890 to 1919 Hans Geelmuyden was a professor of astronomy at the University of Kristiania as well as the director of the observatory there. From 1892 to his death he edited the official Norwegian almanac. August Geelmuyden Spørck
August Geelmuyden Spørck (13 September 1851 – 14 July 1928) was a Norwegian military officer and politician for the Liberal Party. He is best known as the Norwegian Minister of Defence from 1909 to 1910. Career He was born in Kristiania. He became a military officer in 1872. Through the rifle associations he became affiliated with the Liberal Party. He was elected to the Parliament of Norway in 1900, representing the constituency of ''Trondhjem og Levanger''. He held the rank of Captain at that time. He served only one term, but had previously served as a deputy representative during the term 1898–1900. On 20 August 1909, he was appointed as the new Minister of Defence in the first cabinet Knudsen. He held this position until 1 February 1910, when the cabinet resigned. Kristian Geelmuyden (12 November 1875 in Kristiania – 18 August 1969) was a Norwegian politician for the Conservative Party. He served as mayor of Bærum from 1935 to 1937, having previously served as a member of the municipal council since 1929. Outside politics he spent much of his professional career in Norsk Hydro. He worked as an engineer in Notodden from 1904 to 1915, then as a chief of department and director in Oslo from 1915 to 1926.
