Geebung Railway Station
Geebung railway station is located on the North Coast line in Queensland, Australia. It serves the Brisbane suburb of Geebung. History On 28 August 2000, a third platform opened as part of the addition of a third track from Northgate to Bald Hills. In June 2013, a construction crew of an overpass at the Geebung railway station in northern Brisbane uncovered the 50-million-year-old fossilized remains (vertebrae) of a 5-metre crocodile trapped in a layer of oil shale. Workers drilling holes as part of an overpass reach the crocodile remains, as well as frogs, fish and plant fossils, in the ''spoil,'' the oil shale rock and soil found in the excavation pit. The fossil remains were discovered by a work crew drilling a hole for a bridge support over an area called the Zillman Waterholes. Overview The magazine's publisher is the Australian Railway Historical Society (ARHS), NSW Division. The first issue was published in March 1963 under the name ''New South Wales Digest'' and regular publication commenced with the May 1963 edition. It was renamed in January 1983. Kippa-Ring railway station is the terminus of the Redcliffe Peninsula railway line and serves the suburb of Kippa-Ring in Moreton Bay Region, Queensland, Australia. It features a park & ride facility and local bus stops. A stabling facility, capable of holding 10 six car trains, is located to the west of the station. Geebung is a suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Geebung had a population of 4,626 people. Geography The suburb is centred on its railway station on the Caboolture railway line. History The suburb takes its name from its railway station, which in turn was named after the fruit of the plant Persoonia media, known as "jibung" in the Dharuk language. The Geebung Baptist church was initiated with a stump capping ceremony on Saturday 7 February 1925; prior to this services had been held in the war memorial hall. On Saturday 14 February 1925, the church was opened in a ceremony attended by 150 people. It was made of weatherboard and could seat about 100 people.
