''Gee'' is the first extended play (EP) by South Korean girl group Girls' Generation. It was released on January 7, 2009, by SM Entertainment. Single A week after its release, "Gee" went number one on ''Music Bank''; however, questions were raised when the group did not appear on the program for unknown reasons, with rumors spreading regarding a possible rift between SM Entertainment and KBS. "Gee" also went to number one on SBS's Inkigayo a week after their return. "Gee" first tied with "Nobody" by the Wonder Girls for the longest-running number one on music portal M.Net (6 weeks). The song then broke the record by staying on top a seventh week, and remained in the position for an eighth week. Girls' Generation
Girls' Generation (), also known as SNSD, is a South Korean girl group formed by SM Entertainment. The group is composed of eight members: Taeyeon, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona, and Seohyun. Originally a nine-piece ensemble, member Jessica departed from the group in September 2014. Jewelry () was a South Korean girl group formed in 2001 by Star Empire Entertainment. The group, which underwent several line-up changes over the years, disbanded in 2015. E-Tribe () is a South Korean record artist and music duo consisting of Ahn Myung-won and Kim Young-deuk. They are most known for producing " Gee" by Girls' Generation, " U-Go-Girl" by Lee Hyo-ri, " Yayaya" by T-ara, " It's You" by Super Junior, and "I Know" by Se7en.
