Gdańsk Kolonia Railway Station
Gdańsk Kolonia is a former SKM stop in Gdańsk, Poland. It is no longer used since June 2005, after canceling passenger service on Gdańsk - Nowy Port line. This line is now used for freight transport, except sport events. On June 25, 2005, the station was definitely closed for passenger service. The line The line connecting Gdańsk Główny (''Danzig Hbf.'') with Gdańsk Nowy Port (''Danzig Neufahrwasser'') was opened in October 1867. It had been electrified in 1951, but the voltage was changed (from 800 V) into standard 3 kV in 1973. PKP Szybka Kolej Miejska w Trójmieście Sp. z o.o. (); approximate English translation Tricity Rapid Transit Rail Ltd., usually abbreviated SKM, is a public rapid transit system in Poland's Tricity, Poland, Tricity area (Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia), in addition reaching out to Lębork (which is 59 km west of Gdynia), Kartuzy and Koscierzyna; its service extended in the past also to Słupsk, Pruszcz Gdański, Tczew, Elbląg, or even as far as to Iława. Nowy Port
Nowy Port (german: Neufahrwasser; csb, Fôrwôter) is a district of the city of Gdańsk, Poland. It borders with Brzeźno to the west, Letnica to the south, and Przeróbka to the east (over the Martwa Wisła). The landmark of the district is the historic Nowy Port Lighthouse, which is open to visitors. During World War II, in 1939 and 1940, the district was one of places of imprisonment and executions of Polish railway workers by Nazi Germany. Gdańsk Shipyard
The Gdańsk Shipyard ( pl, Stocznia Gdańska, formerly Lenin Shipyard) is a large Polish shipyard, located in the city of Gdańsk. The yard gained international fame when Solidarity () was founded there in September 1980. It is situated on the western side of Martwa Wisła and on Ostrów Island. History Gdańsk Shipyard was founded in 1946 as a state-owned company, on sites of the former German shipyards, Schichau-Werft and Danziger Werft, both considerably damaged in the Second World War. On 1 July 1952 a state-owned enterprise called Baza Remontowa-Ostrow was established on Ostrów Island. The name changed to Gdańska Stocznia Remontowa later in the year.
