Gazzo Veronese
Gazzo Veronese is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Verona in the Italian region Veneto, located about southwest of Venice and about south of Verona. Gazzo Veronese borders the following municipalities: Casaleone, Nogara, Ostiglia, Sanguinetto, Serravalle a Po, Sorgà, Sustinente and Villimpenta. The economy is mostly based on agriculture. History Gazzo's area was inhabited since the 4th millennium BC, but the modern settlement has Lombard origin. Its name derives in fact from the Lombard ''gahagi'', meaning "wood". In Roman times it should be already populated, but the inhabitants fled with the fall of the Western Roman Empire. In the 9th century Benedictine monks of the Veronese church of Santa Maria in Organo dried the area. The fief was sold to Federico della Scala in 1307. Sestri Ponente is an industrial suburb of Genoa in northwest Italy. It is part of the Medio Ponente ''municipio'' of Genoa. Geography It is situated on the Ligurian Sea four miles to the west of the city, between Pegli and Cornigliano. Its population is currently about 50,000, but in the 1970s it was as high as 80,000. History The name is derived from the Latin ''Sextum'', a small village that was likely founded in the second century A.D., where stones were assembled for the Roman road that left from Genoa. Gary 'Gazzo' Osbourne (born 1960) is a British street magician. An expert in cons and scams, he moved in the 1980s to the US, where he befriended Walter Irving Scott (The Phantom). He is Scott's only pupil and the only person with whom Scott entrusted his biography and life's work at card cheating and sleights. Michael Gazzo (born 21 January 1990), known professionally as Gazzo, is an American DJ, record producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Gazzo has written songs across a wide array of styles and for many different artists but is most known for his pop-driven house and dance records.
