Gazette (TV Series)
''Gazette'' is a British television series which first aired on ITV in 1968. It starred Gerald Harper as James Hadleigh, a millionaire who relocates from London to Yorkshire and buys a local newspaper founded by his father many years before. The cast also included Jon Laurimore, Ralph Michael and Gillian Wray. Harper had just come off his starring role in the BBC series ''Adam Adamant Lives''. Gerald Harper
Gerald Harper (born 15 February 1931) is an English actor, best known for his work on television, having played the title roles in ''Adam Adamant Lives!'' (1966–67) and '' Hadleigh'' (1969–76). He then returned to his main love, the theatre. His classical work includes playing on Broadway with the Old Vic company, playing Iago at the Bristol Old Vic and Benedick at the Chichester Festival Theatre. Other plays in London included ''Crucifer of Blood'' at the Haymarket Theatre, ''House Guest'', ''A Personal Affair'', ''Suddenly at Home'' and ''Baggage''. He has directed many plays, amongst them a production of '' Blithe Spirit'' in Hebrew at the Israeli National Theatre. Elwyn John Jones (4 May 1923 – 19 May 1982) was a Welsh television writer and producer, who co-created the police drama series ''Z-Cars'' for BBC Television in 1962. Later, he devised '' Softly, Softly'' (1966–69), '' Softly, Softly: Taskforce'' (1969–76), ''Barlow at Large''/''Barlow'' (1971, 1973–75), ''Jack the Ripper'' (1973) and ''Second Verdict'' (1976). Publius Terentius Afer (; – ), better known in English as Terence (), was a Roman African playwright during the Roman Republic. His comedies were performed for the first time around 166–160 BC. Terentius Lucanus, a Roman senator, brought Terence to Rome as a slave, educated him and later on, impressed by his abilities, freed him. It is thought that Terence abruptly died, around the age of 25, likely in Greece or on his way back to Rome, due to shipwreck or disease. ITV Yorkshire, previously known as Yorkshire Television and commonly referred to as just YTV, is the British television service provided by ITV Broadcasting Limited for the Yorkshire franchise area on the ITV (TV network), ITV network. ITV is a British free-to-air public broadcast television network. It was launched in 1955 as Independent Television to provide competition to BBC Television (established in 1936). ''Adam Adamant Lives!'' is a British adventure television series that ran from 1966 to 1967 on BBC 1, starring Gerald Harper in the title role. The series was created and produced by several alumni from '' Doctor Who''.
