The Gaza–Israel conflict is a localized part of the Israeli–Palestinian conflict beginning in 1948, when about 200,000 of the more than 700,000 Nakba, Palestinians who fled or were expelled from their homes settled in the Gaza Strip as refugees. Yuval Diskin (; born June 11, 1956) is a former director of the Israeli internal security service Shin Bet, serving as its 13th director from 2005 to 2011. Eyal Eisenberg
Aluf Eyal Eizenberg (; born 1963) is a former general in the Israel Defense Forces; his last position was the head of IDF Home Front Command. He led the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Gaza Division during the 2008–2009 Israel–Gaza conflict. Military career Eizenberg was born in Kfar Bialik in 1963. Eliezer (Eli) Marom ("Chayni") (, born in 1955, Sde Eliezer, Upper Galilee, Israel) is the former Commander of the Israeli Navy serving from 2007 to 2011. Aluf Ido Nehoshtan, also Nehushtan (; born 1957) is a retired general in the Israel Defense Forces. He replaced Eliezer Shkedi on 4 April 2008 as Air Force Commander until he himself was replaced by Amir Eshel on 10 May 2012 upon his retirement from 37 years of service. Yoav Gallant (; born 8 November 1958) is an Israeli politician and former military officer who served as minister of defense between 2022 and 2024.
