Gaylon Alcaraz
Gaylon Alcaraz (born October 26, 1966) is an American community organizer and human rights activist in Chicago, Illinois. She is the former executive director of the Chicago Abortion Fund. Her autobiography, ''Tales of a Woojiehead'', was published by Blackgurl Press in 2002. Education Alcaraz earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees from DePaul University. She completed one year of coursework at Roosevelt University towards a Doctorate of Education. She is currently attending National Louis University to earn Ph.D. in community psychology. Career In 1997, Alcaraz became a founding board member of Affinity Community Services, an organization dedicated to developing leadership skills for black lesbian and bisexual women. Gaylon Lawrence
Gaylon M. Lawrence (March 15, 1934 – July 10, 2012) was an American businessman and farmer. Lawrence owned more than 165,000 acres of farmland in Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas and Mississippi and was the owner of U.S. Airconditioning Distributors, the world's largest privately owned heating, ventilation and air conditioning distributor. His family also owned five community banks and 30,000 acres of citrus farms, making his companies Florida's largest producer of fresh fruit. Lawrence graduated from Piggott Arkansas High School and from Iowa State University in 1955 with a degree in agriculture/economics. Gaylon Moore (born June 15, 1978) is an American professional basketball player, who most recently played for the Plymouth Raiders in the British Basketball League. The 6'7" Forward born in Union City, Tennessee was a star center for Gibson County High School from 1992 to 1996 and attended Union University in Jackson, Tennessee on a basketball scholarship from 1996 to 2000. Moore spent just one season with the BBL team where he only played three games. Gaylon Harrel Nickerson (born February 5, 1969) is an American former professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and other leagues. Born in Osceola, Arkansas, he attended Wichita State University, Butler Community College, Kansas State University, and Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Nickerson was selected in the second round (34th overall) of the 1994 NBA draft by the Atlanta Hawks. He split the 1996–97 NBA season with the San Antonio Spurs and the Washington Bullets, playing just four games. Gaylon Smith
Gaylon Wesley Smith ( – ) was a professional American football back and defensive end who played five seasons for the Cleveland Rams in the National Football League (NFL) and one season for the Cleveland Browns of the All-America Football Conference (AAFC). Before entering professional football, Smith starred as a halfback at Rhodes College and led the country in scoring in 1938. He was selected by the Rams in the second round of the following season's NFL draft and played for the Cleveland team until deciding to retire from the sport in 1943. After taking a job as a personnel director and playing on a regional basketball and baseball teams based in the Cleveland area, Smith joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 during World War II. He was discharged two years later and signed with the Browns, then a new team in the AAFC.
