Gayla Drake (born December 3, 1964, in Iowa) is an American guitarist and singer/songwriter. Biography Drake was born in Iowa on December 3, 1964. She began playing the guitar at the age of 4 and performed Old-time music, Bluegrass music , and Celtic music throughout her formative years, finally recording her first CD of original music in 1994. She has released 14 additional recordings since that time, along with music for public television and independent films. Gayla Earlene (born January 31, 1954, in Inola, Oklahoma), is a Christian country music recording artist and musician. Biography Earlene began her professional career at the age of 16 as a singer/songwriter. In 1971, she met and married fellow artist and steel guitarist, Gene Crain. Together they formed the group Pure Country and began touring across the country. Earlene has performed on the Grand Ole Opry with other artist such as, Roy Clark, Freddy Fender, Minnie Pearl, Johnny Russell and Mel Tillis. Through the years Earlene has had major success in the Christian country market. Gayla Rienette Peevey (born March 8, 1943) is a former singer and child star from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She is best known for her recording of "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" ( Columbia 4-40106, 1953). Peevey recorded the novelty song when she was 10 years old. Biography Born and raised in Armidale, New South Wales, Reid was educated at the University of New England, Australian National University and the University of British Columbia. Remaining in Canada, she was active in the country's feminist movement, editing the newspaper '' Kinesis'' and the literary journal '' Room of One's Own'' and teaching women's studies at Vancouver Community College.
