Gavin O'Mahony
Gavin O'Mahony (born 11 June 1987) is an Irish sportsperson. He plays hurling with his local club Kilmallock and was a member of the Limerick senior inter-county team from 2007 until 2017. O'Mahony announced his retirement from inter-county hurling in November 2017. Limerick ( ; ga, Luimneach ) is a western city in Ireland situated within County Limerick. It is in the province of Munster and is located in the Mid-West which comprises part of the Southern Region. Kilmallock Hurlers
Kilmallock () is a town in south County Limerick, Ireland, near the border with County Cork. There is a Dominican Priory in the town and King's Castle (or King John's Castle). The remains of medieval walls which encircled the settlement are still visible. History Foundation and development Saint Mocheallóg built a church in the area in the early 7th century, and the town's name derives from the Irish ''Cill Mocheallóg'' meaning "the church of Mocheallóg". The town was of considerable importance in the late medieval period, ranking as one of the main urban areas in Ireland at the time. The Collegiate Church of St Peter and St Paul was built by 1241. Kilmallock was located in a position of some strategic importance, and in consequence the town frequently became a target during times of war. Wexford GAA
The Wexford County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Luthchleas Gael Coiste Chontae Loch Garman) or Wexford GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Wexford. The county board is also responsible for the Wexford county teams. Wexford is one of the few counties to have won the All-Ireland Senior Championship in both football and hurling. The county hurling team last won the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship in 1996. Diarmuid Lyng
Diarmuid Lyng (born 1981 in Wexford, Ireland) is an Irish sportsperson. He plays hurling and Gaelic football with his local club St Martin's and was a member of the Wexford senior inter-county hurling team from 2004 to 2013. His nickname "Gizzy" was acquired in his childhood and is a reference to the character Gizmo from the movie Gremlins. A graduate of Froebel College of Education, Lyng is a primary school teacher. Playing career Club Lyng plays both hurling and Gaelic football with his local club St Martin's in Piercestown and has experienced much success. In 1999 Lyng was still a member of the clubs minor team when he made his senior debut as a seventeen-year-old. He was a non-playing substitute when St Martin's defeated Rathnure by two points to win their very first county championship. The 2011 National Hurling League (known as the Allianz Hurling League for sponsorship reasons) was the 80th season of the National Hurling League. Ticket prices In January 2011, the GAA announced a reduction in ticket prices for the 2011 National Hurling League. The decision to cut prices was announced at a Central Council meeting and will see the cost of admission to a league game in the first division of the NHL dropping from €15 to €13, with a €5 admission to lower-level hurling games. Division 1 Galway came into the season as defending champions of the 2010 season. Wexford entered Division 1 as the promoted team. David Breen
David Breen (born 20 September 1985) is an Irish hurler who played centre-forward and was the captain of the Limerick senior team. Breen made his first appearance for the team during the 2009 championship and has become a regular member of the starting fifteen over the last few seasons. Since then he has won one National Hurling League (Division 2) winners' medal. At club level, Breen has won both Munster and county championship winners' medals with Na Piarsaigh. Playing career Club Breen plays his club hurling with the Na Piarsaigh club in Limerick. After developing his hurling at juvenile levels he later came to prominence as a member of the club's minor hurling team. Railway Cup
The GAA Interprovincial Championship ( ga, An Corn Idir-Chúigeach) or Railway Cup (''Corn an Iarnróid'') is the name of two annual Gaelic football and hurling competitions held between the provinces of Ireland. The Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster GAA teams are composed of the best players from the counties in each province. The games are organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association. The Railway Cup was a revival of the Railway Shield which ran from 1905 to 1907 (football) and from 1905 to 1908 (hurling). The first Railway Cup competitions (the name is due to the donation of the trophy by Irish Rail) were held in 1927, with Munster winning the first football title and Leinster winning the first hurling title. Presently, Ulster hold the record for the most football Railway Cup wins with 30, while Munster has won the most hurling titles with 43.
