Gavin Bayes
Gavin Bayes (born 7 May 1965) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Richmond in the Victorian Football League (VFL).''The Age''"North picks forward for first game" 27 June 1986, p. 30 Bayes, a recruit from Jordanville, made five league appearances for Richmond. He played three games late in the 1985 VFL season, then just one more in each of the next two years. While playing for Barooga, Bayes was the Murray Football League leading goal-kicker in the 1991 season. It was the second time he had topped 100 goals in a season, after doing so in 1989, when his total was bettered by Darren Jackson of Finley. Richmond Football Club
The Richmond Football Club, nicknamed the Tigers, is an Australian rules football team playing in the Australian Football League (AFL). Between its inception in the Melbourne suburb of Richmond in 1885 and 1907, the club competed in the Victorian Football Association (VFA), winning two premierships. Richmond joined the Victorian Football League (now known as the AFL) in 1908 and has since won 13 premierships, most recently in 2020. The 1985 VFL season was the 89th season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. The season featured twelve clubs, ran from 23 March until 28 September, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top five clubs. The season was the first to feature premiership matches on Friday nights. Barooga Football Club
The Barooga Football Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Hawks'', is an Australian rules football and netball club based in the town of Barooga located in the Riverina district of New South Wales. The club was formed in 1894 and initially played in the Murray Border Football Association in 1894. When the club won the Federal District Football Association premiership against Cobram Football Club in 1897, they were known as "The Boomerangs" and wore a red and white uniform. When Barooga FC re-formed in 1907 they wore an all-blue uniform in the Goulburn Valley Football Association in 1907 and 1908. Darren Jackson (born 7 December 1961) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong in the Victorian Football League (VFL). A full-forward from Finley, Jackson came to Geelong after winning the Murray Football League's leading goal-kicker award in 1983. He made two senior appearances for Geelong in the 1984 VFL season, against Collingwood at Kardinia Park in round seven and Essendon at Waverley Park in round eight. Jackson went on to have a long and decorated career at Finley, being the Murray Football League leading-kicker a further three times, in 1986, 1989 and 1997.
