Gauthier Klauss
Gauthier Klauss (born 17 December 1987) is former French slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2003. His career ended in 2018 after C2 category was removed from the World cup and World championship. He won a bronze medal in the C2 event at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. He and his partner Matthieu Péché also competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London where they finished in 4th place in the C2 event. He won six medals at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships with five golds (C2: 2017, C2 team: 2010, 2011, 2014, 2015) and a bronze (C2: 2015). He also won two golds, a silver and a bronze in the C2 team event at the European Championships. Klauss won the overall world cup title in the C2 category in 2013 and 2015. Canoeing At The 2016 Summer Olympics – Men's Slalom C-2
The men's canoe slalom C-2 event at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro took place from 8 - 11 August at the Deodoro Olympic Whitewater Stadium. The gold medal was won by Ladislav Škantár & Peter Škantár of Slovakia. It was the last appearance of the men's C-2, replaced by the women's C-1 for Tokyo 2020 in order to bring the slalom canoeing programme to gender equality (in 2016 and before, there were 3 men's events to only 1 women's event). European Junior And U23 Canoe Slalom Championships
The European Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom Championships is an annual international canoeing and kayaking event organized by the European Canoe Association (ECA). The Junior Championships were first held in 1995 and then every two years until 2003. The Under-23 Championships were first held in 2002 as part of the senior championships that year. Since 2004 the junior and U23 age categories are held annually together as part of the same event. Athletes under the age of 18 are eligible for the junior category. 2013 Canoe Slalom World Cup
The 2013 Canoe Slalom World Cup was a series of five races in 5 canoeing and kayaking categories organized by the International Canoe Federation (ICF). It was the 26th edition. The team events were held as part of the world cup program for the first time in history, but no points were awarded for them. Calendar The series opened with World Cup Race 1 in Cardiff, Wales (June 21–23) for the second year in a row and ended with the World Cup Final in Bratislava, Slovakia (August 23–25), also for the second consecutive year. Final standings The winner of each race was awarded 60 points. Points for lower places differed from one category to another. Every participant was guaranteed at least 2 points for participation and 5 points for qualifying for the semifinal run. Canoeing At The 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's Slalom C-2
The men's canoe slalom C-2 competition at the 2012 Olympic Games in London took place between 30 July and 2 August at the Lee Valley White Water Centre. Twenty-eight canoeists from 12 countries competed. Great Britain's Tim Baillie and Etienne Stott won the gold medal and David Florence and Richard Hounslow won silver. Twin brothers Pavol and Peter Hochschorner of Slovakia won the bronze. Competition format In the heats, each competitor had two runs; the 10 teams with the best time qualified for the semi-finals. Each semi-final consisted of one run each and the best six qualified for the final. The final saw one run each where the team with the best time won the gold medal. Canoe Slalom
Canoe slalom (previously known as whitewater slalom) is a competitive sport with the aim to navigate a decked canoe or kayak through a course of hanging downstream or upstream gates on river rapids in the fastest time possible. It is one of the two kayak and canoeing disciplines at the Summer Olympics, and is referred to by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as Canoe/Kayak Slalom.
