Gastonia Rangers
The Gastonia Rangers were a class A minor league baseball team located in Gastonia, North Carolina. The team played first as the Rangers in the Western Carolinas League (1973–1974). In 1983 and 1984, they played as the Gastonia Expos, as an affiliate of the Montreal Expos. They later returned to the Rangers name in the South Atlantic League (1987–1992), and were affiliated with the Texas Rangers. Their home stadium was Sims Legion Park. After the 1992 season, the team moved to another North Carolina city, Hickory, and have been known as the Hickory Crawdads ever since. The End in Gastonia Charlotte Hornets and Charlotte Knights owner George Shinn purchased the Gastonia franchise from Jack Farnsworth prior to the 1989 season. José Hernández (baseball)
José Antonio Hernández Figueroa (born July 14, 1969) is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) infielder. Career Playing career In a 15-season career, Hernández had a .252 batting average with 159 home runs and 563 RBI in 1408 games. He was a 2002 All-Star Game reserve, and a member of the 1999 National League Champion Atlanta Braves. Primarily a shortstop, Hernández played every position except pitcher. His most productive season came in with Milwaukee, when he posted career highs in home runs (25), RBI (78), doubles (26) and games (152). In his All-Star year, , Hernández hit 24 home runs with 73 RBI and a career-high .288 average; however, he also struck out 188 times, one shy of the MLB record. Benji Gil
Romar Benjamin Gil Aguilar (born October 6, 1972) is a Mexican former professional baseball infielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Texas Rangers and Anaheim Angels. He is infield coach for the Los Angeles Angels of MLB, and as manager for the Tomateros de Culiacán of the Mexican Pacific League. Rey Francisco Guadalupe Sánchez (born October 5, 1967) is a Puerto Rican former Major League Baseball infielder. He attended high school in California and was drafted in the 13th round of the amateur baseball draft by the Texas Rangers. He played in their minor league system until , when he was traded to the Chicago Cubs for minor leaguer Bryan House. In , he broke through to the majors, playing 13 games. He continued to play there, often on a regular basis until August 16, , when he was traded to the New York Yankees for minor leaguer Frisco Parotte. Dean Palmer
Dean William Palmer (born December 27, 1968) is an American former third baseman in Major League Baseball who had a 14-year career from 1989 to 2003. He played for the Texas Rangers, Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers, all of the American League. In 1991, Palmer won the American Association home run title with 22 HRs despite only playing in 60 games. In 1992, Palmer became the first Texas ballplayer to homer in the first three games of a season, a feat that was matched in 2011 by Ian Kinsler and Nelson Cruz. William Joseph Haselman (born May 25, 1966) is an American professional baseball coach and former player. He played as a catcher in Major League Baseball (MLB) for 13 seasons between 1990 and 2003. A first-round selection in the 1987 MLB draft, he played for the Texas Rangers, Seattle Mariners, Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers. He later was the bullpen coach and first base coach for the Red Sox, and currently is the third base and catching coach for the Los Angeles Angels.
