Gas Giants (band)
Gas Giants were a pop rock band from Tempe, Arizona, formed as a successor project to the Gin Blossoms. The group was known as The Pharaohs when they formed in 1997, but changed their name after their label, A&M Records, merged with Universal Records and the band changed hands, re-signing with Interscope Records. Eventually, the group released their album, ''From Beyond the Back Burner'', in 1999 on indie Atomic Pop Records. Comic book artist Geof Darrow provided the artwork for the album. The band featured Gin Blossoms members Robin Wilson, Phillip Rhodes and Daniel Henzerling, as well as Mickey Ferrel, who was previously in the band Grievous Angels. Henzerling was the drummer for the Gin Blossoms before the current drummer, Phillip Rhodes (drummer), Phillip Rhodes. Interscope Records is an American record label owned by Universal Music Group through its Interscope Geffen A&M imprint. Founded in late 1990 by Jimmy Iovine and Ted Field as a $20 million joint venture with Atlantic Records of Warner Music Group and Interscope Communications, it differed from most record companies by letting A&R staff control decisions and allowing artists and producers full creative control. ''Boys and Girls'' is a 2000 American comedy film directed by Robert Iscove. The two main characters, Ryan (Freddie Prinze Jr.) and Jennifer ( Claire Forlani), meet each other initially as adolescents, and later realize that their lives are intertwined through fate. Plot 12-year-old Jennifer Burrows and 11-year-old Ryan Walker meet aboard an airplane and are immediately at odds. Four years later, Ryan is the mascot at his high school, while Jennifer is elected Homecoming Queen at hers. Live in the X Lounge is a series of albums released by Birmingham, Alabama's former alternative rock radio station, WRAX. Though the station can no longer be found on the air, this series of live performances was produced while the station was known as ''107.7 The X''. The station was later renamed and moved to ''The X @ 100.5'', a change prompted by its acquisition by Citadel Broadcasting. Seven albums were produced in all, the last one released in 2004, just a few months before the station was acquired. All discs in the series were sold to benefit United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Birmingham, a group of associations raising money to create awareness and research for cerebral palsy. Train is an American pop rock band from San Francisco which was formed in 1993. As of 2022 the band consists of Pat Monahan (lead vocals), Taylor Locke (guitar, vocals), Hector Maldonado (bass, vocals), Jerry Becker (keyboards, guitar), Matt Musty (drums), Sakai Smith (backup vocals), and Nikita Houston (backup vocals). ''From Beyond the Back Burner'' is the debut album by Arizona-based pop rock band Gas Giants, released on Atomic Pop Records on October 19, 1999. Reception AllMusic gave the recording three out of five stars and in its review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine praises the band for feeling like it is having fun and including humor in the lyrics. He writes that the album is "unassuming, good-natured, and melodic hard-pop". In ''CMJ New Music Monthly'', Meredith Ochs gave the album a mixed review, saying that it followed from Gin Blossoms' work and expanded it by adding stadium rock guitar but "although Wilson's melodies pull the songs together, the hooks don't really stick without great lyrics to hang on".
