Gary Watts
Gary Maxwell Watts (born 22 October 1958) is an Australian former cricketer. He played 67 first-class cricket matches for Victoria cricket team, Victoria between 1977 and 1991. Watts played twenty-six seasons of Victorian Premier Cricket, district/premier cricket for Fitzroy Cricket Club, Fitzroy/Fitzroy-Doncaster between 1975/76 and 2000/01, and scored a career total of 12,933 runs at 42.26. At the end of his career, he was the highest run-scorer in premier cricket history, having surpassed the record held by John Scholes (cricketer), John Scholes; as of 2016, he sits second behind Warren Ayres. Dunolly, Victoria
Dunolly is a town in Victoria, Australia, located on the Dunolly - Maryborough Road, in the Shire of Central Goldfields. At the 2016 census, Dunolly had a population of 893, down from 969 in 2006. History The town began during the Victorian Gold Rush. It is located on the traditional lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung people, who called the area ''Lea Kuribur''. One of the first accounts of the Dunolly Gold Rush was recorded by the Bendigo Advertiser on 3 July 1857 that estimated the population at 12,000. Confirmation of a rush followed on 10 July. The exact date that Dunolly was founded is unknown. The location of the township itself moved four times before the 1856 rush, further adding to the confusion of its early history. Victoria Cricket Team
The Victoria men’s cricket team is an Australian first-class men's cricket team based in Melbourne, Victoria. The men’s team, which first played in 1851, represents the state of Victoria in the Marsh Sheffield Shield first-class competition and the Marsh One Day Cup 50-over competition. It was known as the Victorian Bushrangers between 1995 and 2018, before dropping the Bushrangers nickname and electing to be known as simply Victoria in all cricket competitions. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Victorian Premier Cricket is a club cricket competition in the state of Victoria administered by Cricket Victoria. Each club fields four teams (firsts through to fourths) of adult players and usually play on weekends and public holidays. Matches are played on turf wickets under limited-time rules, with most results being decided on a first-innings basis. The Fitzroy Doncaster Cricket Club, nicknamed the Lions, play cricket in the elite club competition of Melbourne, Australia, known as Victorian Premier Cricket. John Scholes (cricketer)
Walter John Scholes (5 January 1950 – 14 July 2003) was an Australian first-class cricketer and coach. He also played 30 games of Australian rules football for North Melbourne Football Club between 1967 and 1971 scoring 35 goals as a rover before a knee injury cut short his football career. Scholes was a successful junior cricketer, captaining the Victorian under-15s to victory in the Sydney carnival. He once scored 100 runs and took 10 wickets in a game, becoming the first ever Australian schoolboy to do so. In the 1968–69 season he made his debut for Victoria, aged just 18. He was appointed Victoria's youngest ever captain at the time when 21 years of age, by the end of his 62-game career, the right-hander made 3201 runs at 30.78. Warren Ayres (born 25 October 1965) is an Australian former cricketer. He played 46 first-class cricket matches for Victoria between 1988 and 1997. Ayres holds the record for most career runs in the Victorian Premier Cricket competition, scoring 15,277 runs at an average of 42.43 in nineteen seasons for Melbourne and six seasons for Dandenong between 1983/84 and 2007/08.
