Gary W. Martini
Private First Class Gary Wayne Martini (September 21, 1948 – April 21, 1967) was a United States Marine who posthumously received the Medal of Honor for heroism in April 1967 during the Vietnam War. Early years Martini was born on September 21, 1948, in Lexington, Virginia. His early education was completed in Frankford, West Virginia, where he participated in intramural sports. After moving with his parents to Charleston, West Virginia, he attended Stonewall Jackson High School through the 11th grade. His family then moved temporarily to Portland, Oregon, and Gary attended David Douglas High School until February 1966. Lexington, Virginia
Lexington is an independent city in the Commonwealth of Virginia. At the 2020 census, the population was 7,320. Camp Horno
Camp Horno is a camp at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in San Diego County, California. It is the home of the 1st Marine Regiment, sometimes known as "Inchon". History The camp was built in 1950 at the start of the Korean War and named for the Spanish word for clay oven or kiln. Camp Horno initially consisted of Quonset huts that were typical housing for Marines until the 1970s. In 2008 four-story, 170-room barracks were built as part of a facilities renovation project. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial is a U.S. national memorial in Washington, D.C., honoring service members of the U.S. armed forces who served in the Vietnam War.
