Gary Lockerbie
Gary Lockerbie (born 15 November 1982) is an English professional golfer. Career Lockerbie was born in Penrith, Cumbria. He had a successful amateur career, including wins in the English Amateur and the Lytham Trophy, before turning professional after representing Great Britain and Ireland in the 2005 Walker Cup. In his first season as a professional on the second tier Challenge Tour in 2006, Lockerbie finished inside the top 15 in the rankings to graduate to the European Tour for 2007. He failed to win enough money in his rookie season on the European Tour to retain his playing status for the following year. In 2008 he claimed his first professional victory at the Kazakhstan Open, the Challenge Tour's richest regular season tournament. That win helped him to second place on the Challenge Tour Rankings and a return to the European Tour for 2009. In 2009 he finished 108th in the Race to Dubai to keep his card for the 2010 season. Penrith, Cumbria
Penrith (, , ) is a market town and civil parish in the county of Cumbria, England, about south of Carlisle. It is less than outside the Lake District, Lake District National Park, in between the Rivers River Petteril, Petteril and River Eamont, Eamont and just north of the River Lowther. It had a population of 15,181 at the 2011 Census. The European Amateur Team Championship is a European amateur team golf championship for men organised by the European Golf Association which was introduced in 1959. The championship was played in odd-numbered years from 1959 to 2007 and has been played annually since 2008 (with the exception of 2012). 2005 Walker Cup
The 40th Walker Cup Match was played on August 13 and 14, 2005 at the Chicago Golf Club in Wheaton, Illinois, United States. Team United States won 12½ to 11½. Format The format for play on Saturday and Sunday are the same. There are four matches of foursomes in the morning and eight singles matches in the afternoon. In all, 24 matches are played. Each of the 24 matches is worth one point in the larger team competition. If a match is all square after the 18th hole extra holes are not played. The 2005 European Amateur Team Championship took place 28 June – 2 July at Hillside Golf Club in Southport, England. It was the 24th men's golf European Amateur Team Championship. Venue The club was founded in 1911. The course, located in Southport, 20 kilometres north of the city center of Liverpool, England, is a links course, with all the holes being between and on mainly large dunes and local indigenous pinewoods, typical of the area. It is physically close to both the Royal Birkdale Golf Club, near its south-western boundaries, and to the Southport and Ainsdale Golf Club. The Open Championship
The Open Championship, often referred to as The Open or the British Open, is the oldest golf tournament in the world, and one of the most prestigious. Founded in 1860, it was originally held annually at Prestwick Golf Club in Scotland. Later the venue rotated between a select group of coastal links golf courses in the United Kingdom.
