Gary Johnson (baseball Manager)
Gary George "Griz" Johnson (December 18, 1938 – December 22, 2012) was a longtime figure in professional baseball who, at various points, played, managed and scouted. Playing career Prior to playing professionally, Johnson attended Huntington Beach High School and then Orange Coast College. A first baseman, Johnson played in the minor leagues for 11 seasons, from 1958 to 1967. He began his career at 19 years old, hitting .282 with 49 hits in 50 games split between the Class-D Dubuque Packers and Class-D- Holdrege White Sox in 1958. In 1959, he played for the Clinton Pirates and hit .277 with five home runs in 115 games. He played for the Class-B Lincoln Chiefs in 1960 and hit .230 with one home run, 50 RBI and 13 stolen bases in 130 games. He returned to Lincoln for 1961 and hit .289 with one home run and 122 hits in 110 games. He played for the unaffiliated Class-B Tri-City Braves in 1962, but was still part of the White Sox system. Huntington Beach High School
Huntington Beach High School (HBHS) is a public high school in Huntington Beach, California. Built in 1906, it is part of the Huntington Beach Union High School District. HBHS is a California Distinguished School. Huntington Beach High School is also the home of the Huntington Beach Academy for the Performing Arts. Campus Huntington Beach High School bell tower and auditorium were originally built in 1903 and were rebuilt in 1926. In July 2009, renovations were completed on the auditorium and the bell tower. Construction was also completed on the school's performing arts classrooms building and courtyard. The project was funded through taxes. Sports The school competes in the Sunset League. Columbus White Sox
The Columbus Mudcats were a Minor League Baseball team that played in the Double-A Southern League from 1969 to 1990. They were located in Columbus, Georgia, and played their home games at Golden Park. Founded as the Columbus White Sox in 1969, they were named for their Major League Baseball affiliate, the Chicago White Sox. They became the Columbus Astros in 1970 upon affiliating with the Houston Astros. The Astros won their lone Southern League championship in 1986. Columbus rebranded as the Mudcats in 1989 for their final two years in Columbus. Matthew Aaron Treanor (born March 3, 1976) is an American former professional baseball catcher in Major League Baseball (MLB). He played for the Florida Marlins, Detroit Tigers, Texas Rangers, Kansas City Royals, and Los Angeles Dodgers. Bob Hamelin
Robert James Hamelin (; born November 29, 1967) is a former first baseman and designated hitter in Major League Baseball. From 1993 through 1998, Hamelin played for the Kansas City Royals (1993–96), Detroit Tigers (1997) and Milwaukee Brewers (1998). He batted and threw left-handed. In a six-season career, Hamelin posted a .246 batting average with 67 home runs and 209 RBIs in 497 games played. In 1994, at the age of 26, he was the American League Rookie of the Year. Cecil Edward Espy (born January 20, 1963) is an American former professional baseball outfielder. He played in Major League Baseball for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Texas Rangers, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Cincinnati Reds in 1983 and 1987-1993. Career Espy was a first-round pick of the Chicago White Sox in the 1980 Major League Baseball draft, the eighth player chosen, ahead of such other first-round picks as Terry Francona and Billy Beane. He was traded in the spring of 1982 to the Los Angeles Dodgers for outfielder Rudy Law. Francisco Barrios
Francisco Javier Barrios Jiménez (June 10, 1953 – April 9, 1982) was a Mexican starting pitcher in Major League Baseball who played for the Chicago White Sox. Career Barrios was acquired from the Jalisco Charros of the Mexican League for shortstop Rudy Hernández, and played his entire major league career with the White Sox. He joined the starting rotation in 1976, and on July 28 combined with Blue Moon Odom to no-hit the Oakland Athletics, 2–1, at the Coliseum. His most productive season came in 1977, when he recorded career-numbers with 14 wins, 119 strikeouts, nine complete games, and 231 innings pitched. Despite his 9-15 mark in 1978, he threw two shutouts with a 3.82 ERA in a career-high 33 starts. He declined after that and was released at the end of the 1981 season.
