Gary Frank (comics)
Gary Frank (born 1969) is a British comics artist, notable for pencilling on ''Midnight Nation'' and ''Supreme Power'', both written by J. Michael Straczynski. He has also worked with author Peter David on ''The Incredible Hulk (comic book), The Incredible Hulk'' and ''Supergirl (comic book), Supergirl''. He had a creator ownership, creator-owned series, ''Kin (comics), Kin'', which he wrote himself, published by Top Cow Productions in 2000. Writer Geoff Johns, who has collaborated with Frank, has opined that Frank's rendition of Superman is the best of his generation and that the only other artist in the same league with Frank in this regard is Curt Swan. Galerie Lambiek is a Dutch comic book store and art gallery in Amsterdam, founded on November 8, 1968 by Kees Kousemaker (, – Bussum, ), though since 2007, his son Boris Kousemaker is the current owner. From 1968 to 2015, it was located in the Kerkstraat, but in November 2015, the store moved to the Koningsstraat 27. As of 2018, Lambiek is the oldest comics store in Europe, and the oldest worldwide still in existence. Cam Smith is a British comic book artist and inker known to British comic book readers for his work on '' 2000 AD'' and in the American comic book market for his collaborations with Gary Frank, inking that would earn him an Eisner Award nomination. Biography Smith started out at Marvel UK providing the art for a number of stories, something he would continue to do over the years, moving over to '' 2000 AD''. Inker
The inker (sometimes credited as the finisher or embellisher) is one of the two line artists in traditional comic book production. The penciller creates a drawing, the inker outlines, interprets, finalizes, retraces this drawing by using a pencil, pen or a brush. Inking was necessary in the traditional printing process as presses could not reproduce pencilled drawings. "Inking" of text is usually handled by another specialist, the letterer, the application of colors by the colorist. Motormouth (Harley Davis) is a fictional character created by Paul Neary and developed by writer Graham Marks with initial designs by Gary Frank (Supreme Power, The Incredible Hulk). Marvel UK was an imprint of Marvel Comics formed in 1972 to reprint US-produced stories for the British weekly comic market. Marvel UK later produced original material by British creators such as Alan Moore, John Wagner, Dave Gibbons, Steve Dillon, and Grant Morrison. ''Toxic!'' was a British comic that was published weekly from March 28 to October 24, 1991, by Apocalypse Ltd, with a total of 31 issues. History ''Toxic!'' was the idea of Pat Mills, Kevin O'Neill, Mike McMahon, John Wagner and Alan Grant. The aim was to provide creators an outlet for their work to be published with them retaining the rights and control of their work. This was in contrast to '' 2000 AD'', which Mills had also launched in 1977.
