Garw S.B.G.C.
Garw S.B.G.C. (Garw Seniors, Boys and Girls Club) is a football club based in the village of Pontycymer, near Bridgend, Wales who play in the . History The club was formed in 1945 as Garw Athletic. They joined the Welsh Football League in 1952 and played in the league continuously until the end of 2009–10 when they were relegated out of the league. The club were champions of Welsh Football League Division Two in 2000–01 and 2006–07. The club changed its name to Garw S.B.G.C in 2008–09. The club then played in the South Wales Senior League, before joining the South Wales Alliance League where they were Division Two champions in 2016–17 and runners-up in Division One in 2017–18. Pontycymer
Pontycymer, also spelt Pontycymmer, is a former mining village in Wales. It is situated in the Garw Valley, in Bridgend County Borough, about 7 miles or 11 km north of the town of Bridgend. It‘s attractions include a small Heritage railway, and minor alleged paranormal activity occurring annually where one of the main footpaths crosses the railway line. These allegations are not widely known and lack hard evidence. Name The name is Welsh: ''pont'' means "bridge" and ''cymer'' means "confluence", i.e. where two streams or rivers meet. The South Wales Alliance League is a football league structure in South Wales, currently known for sponsorship reasons as ''The Highadmit Projects South Wales Alliance League''. The top tier of the league, the Premier Division is at the fourth tier of the Welsh Football Pyramid and offers promotion opportunities to the tier 3 Football Association of Wales administered Ardal Leagues. The South Wales Senior League is a former football league in South Wales. The league consisted of two divisions, named Divisions One and Two. Division One was a feeder to the Welsh Football League Division Three, and therefore sat at levels 5 of the Welsh football pyramid. The league was dominated by clubs from Cardiff with no fewer than 14 titles going to the city.
