Garstedt (Hamburg U-Bahn Station)
Garstedt is a underground station on the Hamburg U-Bahn line U 1. It was opened in June 1969 and is located in Norderstedt, Germany, in the borough of Garstedt, which was an independent municipality to the end of 1969. History Construction works for the station began in 1967, and it was opened in June 1969, after U-Bahn tracks of the Langenhorn railway had been extended to Garstedt. This was done in accordance with an agreement between the city of Hamburg and the former Garstedt municipality. Hamburg consented to expand the underground line to Garstedt, after it was allowed to expand the northern runway of Hamburg Airport onto Garstedt territory. A park and ride, also known as incentive parking or a commuter lot, is a parking lot with public transport connections that allows commuting, commuters and other people heading to city centres to leave their vehicles and transfer to a bus, Rail transport, rail system (rapid transit, light rail, or commuter rail), or carpool for the remainder of the journey. Norderstedt Mitte station is a railway station in Norderstedt, Germany. It is a terminus for the rapid transit trains of the line U1 of the Hamburg U-Bahn and connects the underground railway with the commuter trains of the AKN railway company line A2 (Alster Northern Railway). Station layout The terminus of the U1 is an island platform with the bay platform for changing to the commuter trains of the A2. The platform is partly underground and partly open sub level. Ochsenzoll is a station on the Hamburg U-Bahn line U1. Until 1969, it was the north western terminus of the line. It was opened in July 1921 and is located in Hamburg, Germany, in the quarter of Langenhorn. Langenhorn is part of the borough of Hamburg-Nord. Alster Northern Railway
The Alster Northern Railway (german: Alsternordbahn) or ANB was a non-electrified, single-tracked branch line in northern Germany. It linked the stations of Ochsenzoll in Hamburg-Langenhorn with Ulzburg Süd in the district of Segeberg in Schleswig-Holstein. The northern part of the route to Norderstedt Mitte is used today by AKN Railway on behalf to VGN Norderstedt (HVV Line A 2) and is mostly double-tracked. Since 1996 the southern section is part of the Hamburg U-Bahn network ( Line U 1) on behalf to VGN. It is doubled throughout and electrified at 750 V DC via a third rail.
