Garry MacDonald (born 26 March 1962) is an English former Association football, footballer who made nearly 250 appearances in the English Football League, Football League playing as a Forward (association football), forward for Middlesbrough F.C., Middlesbrough, Carlisle United F.C., Carlisle United, Darlington F.C., Darlington, Stockport County F.C., Stockport County and Hartlepool United F.C., Hartlepool United. Life and career MacDonald was born in 1962 in Middlesbrough. He began his football career with Middlesbrough F.C., and made his first-team debut for them on 8 November 1980, aged 18, in the starting eleven for a 1–0 win away to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Football League First Division, First Division. He made 16 appearances over his first two seasons, at the end of which Middlesbrough were relegated to the Football League Second Division, Second Division. Middlesbrough
Middlesbrough ( ) is a town on the southern bank of the River Tees in North Yorkshire, England. It is near the North York Moors national park. It is the namesake and main town of its local borough council area. Until the early 1800s, the area was rural farming land. The Football League Third Division was the third tier of the English football league system in 1920–21 and again from 1958 until 1992. Non-League football describes football leagues played outside the top leagues of a country. Usually, it describes leagues which are not fully professional. The term is primarily used for football in England, where it is specifically used to describe all football played at levels below those of the Premier League (20 clubs) and the three divisions of the English Football League (EFL; 72 clubs). Currently, a non-League team would be any club playing in the National League or below that level. Hartlepool United
Hartlepool United Football Club is a professional association football club based in Hartlepool, County Durham, England. The team competes in League Two, the fourth tier of the English football league system. They were founded in 1908 as Hartlepools United Football Athletic Company. West Hartlepool won the FA Amateur Cup in 1905 and after the club was dissolved in 1910 its assets and liabilities were subsequently taken over by Hartlepools United, who were then playing in the North Eastern League. Hartlepools United were elected into the Football League in 1921 and would spend the next 37 years in the Third Division North, at which point they were placed into the Fourth Division. Stockport County Football Club are a professional association football, football club in Stockport, England, who compete in EFL League Two, the fourth tier of the English football league system. Formed in 1883 as Heaton Norris Rovers, they were renamed Stockport County in 1890 after the County Borough of Stockport. David Currie (footballer)
David Norman Currie (born 27 November 1962) is an English former footballer who played as a striker for Middlesbrough, Darlington, Barnsley, Nottingham Forest, Oldham Athletic, Rotherham United, Huddersfield Town, Carlisle United and Scarborough. He joined Barnsley in 1988 and played 80 league games for them, scoring 30 goals. Currie joined Nottingham Forest in January 1990, and made his debut for them on 3 February, although in August 1990 he moved again to join Oldham after falling out of favour with manager Brian Clough.
