Colleen M. Garry (born July 21, 1962, in Lowell, Massachusetts) is an American politician who represents the 36th Middlesex District in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Early life and education Garry was born on July 21, 1962, in Lowell Massachusetts. She graduated from the University of Lowell and Suffolk University Law School. Career She was an aide to State Representative John Cox, who represented Dracut and part of Lowell. In 1994 she was elected to represent a new district consisting of Dracut, Tyngsborough, and Dunstable. Flora Garry (30 September 1900 – 16 June 2000) was a Scottish poet who mostly wrote in the Scots dialect of Aberdeenshire. Well known for her poetry, she played an important role along with Charles Murray and John C. Milne in validating the literary use of Scots. Biography Flora Garry was the daughter of Archie Campbell, a freelance writer who used the ''nom de plume'' of "The Buchan Farmer", and Helen Campbell, who wrote plays for radio. She was brought up at Mains of Auchmunziel, near to New Deer, Buchan in Abderdeenshire. She went to school in New Deer, then went on to the Peterhead Academy and the University of Aberdeen. Robert Campbell Garry DSc (1933) OBE FRSE LLD (1900–1993) was a British physician and Professor of Medicine at the University of St Andrews and the University of Glasgow. During World War II, as an expert on human physiology, he advised on human tolerance of extreme weather conditions and forces, as experienced by high altitude pilots. Life Garry was born in Glasgow on 21 April 1900 the son of Mary Campbell and Robert Garry, both from the north-east of Scotland. His father was a biologist who was Head of Science at Glasgow High School for Girls. He was educated at Queens Park School in Glasgow. In 1917, he went to the University of Glasgow to study medicine, graduating with an MBChB in 1922.
