Garo (tribe)
The Garo is a Tibeto-Burman ethnic tribal group from the Indian subcontinent, living mostly in the Indian states of Meghalaya, Assam, Tripura, and Nagaland, and in neighbouring areas of Bangladesh, including Madhupur, Mymensingh, Haluaghat, Dhobaura, Durgapur, Kolmakanda, Jamalpur, Sherpur, Jhinaigati, Nalitabari, Gazini Hills Madhyanagar, Bakshiganj and Sribardi. Historically, the name Garo was used for wide range of inhabitants in southern bank of Brahmaputra but now refers to those who call themselves A•chik Mande (literally "hill people," from ''A•chik'' "bite soil" + ''mande'' "people") or simply A•chik or Mande and the name "Garo" is now being used by outsiders as an exonym. Alex Garrow
Alexander Garrow (12 March 1923 – 16 December 1966) was a Labour politician in the United Kingdom. He was elected Member of Parliament (MP) for Glasgow Pollok at the 1964 general election, was re-elected in 1966 but died later the same year, at the age of 43. Known in The House for being an MP who was not committed to personal advancement, he gave up his pay rise to the pensioners in 1964 along with another Glasgow Labour MP. He also was a key member of Glasgow City Council Transport sub-committee who helped introduce Atlantean One Man Operated buses into the City. David Jeffries Garrow (born May 11, 1953) is an American author and historian. He wrote the book ''Bearing the Cross: Martin Luther King, Jr., and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference'' (1986), which won the 1987 Pulitzer Prize for Biography. He also wrote ''Liberty and Sexuality'' (1994), a history of the legal struggles over abortion and reproductive rights in the U.S. prior to the 1973 ''Roe v. Wade'' decision, '' Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama'' (2017), and other works. Professional historians and scholars in other fields have criticized Garrow's later work on Martin Luther King. James Thompson Garrow, (March 11, 1843 – August 31, 1916) was an Ontario lawyer and political figure. He represented Huron West in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as a Liberal member from 1890 to 1902. Nathaniel Garrow (April 25, 1780 – March 3, 1841) was an American politician who served one term as a U.S. Representative from New York from 1827 to 1829. Robert Garrow
Robert Francis Garrow Sr. (March 4, 1936 – September 11, 1978) was an American serial rapist and later spree killer who was active in New York in the early 1970s. After committing several rapes, Garrow went on an 18-day killing spree and stabbed four people to death before being apprehended. His criminal trial, known as the Buried Bodies Case, became an important case in legal ethics after his attorneys refused to disclose the location of the bodies of two of his victims, citing attorney–client privilege. Garrow was later shot dead while escaping from prison in 1978.
