Chris Garrity
Chris Garrity (born June 18, 1981) was a professional lacrosse goaltender with the Chesapeake Bayhawks of Major League Lacrosse (MLL). He retired from MLL on 19 January 2012. Coming out of high school, Chris' best sport was soccer where he excelled as a marking back. Despite being a better soccer player Chris decided to pursue lacrosse in college. Professional career 2007 (Washington): Played in all twelve regular season games for the Chesapeake Bayhawks. Was named to the US Lacrosse Men's team and competed in the US Lacrosse Champion's Challenge. Garrity was named MLL Goalkeeper of the week and named a 2007 All-Star. 2006 (Boston): Played in eleven games for the Boston Cannons. He recorded 200 saves and 151 GAs on the season. Patrick Joseph Garrity (born August 23, 1976) is an American former professional basketball player who played for ten years in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was a member of the National Basketball Players Association Executive Committee from 2000 to 2008 where he served as secretary and treasurer. He is currently the assistant general manager of the Detroit Pistons. High school years At Lewis-Palmer High School in Monument, Colorado, Garrity was a three time All-State selection and part of the 1994 Class 4A State of Colorado High School Basketball Championship team. He was a three time All-State selection and the Class 4A player of the year for the 1993–94 season as well as valedictorian of his high school class. In United States law, the ''Garrity'' warning is an advisement of rights usually administered by federal, state, or local investigators to their employees who may be the subject of an internal investigation. The ''Garrity'' warning advises subjects of their criminal and administrative liability for any statements they may make, but also advises subjects of their right to remain silent on any issues that tend to implicate them in a crime. (See ''Kalkines'' warning concerning federal employees.) It was devised in response to the Supreme Court of the United States ruling in ''Garrity v. New Jersey'' (1967). In that case, a police officer was compelled to make a statement or be fired, and then criminally prosecuted for his statement. Friends Of Garrity Creek
The Friends of Garrity Creek (FGC) is a political organization in Contra Costa County, California which promote the preservation of Garrity Creek. Overview The Friends was formed in 2001 when development on steep slopes near the creek's artesian spring source threatened its existence and quality. The friends were eventually successful in preventing the later determined illegal development which was in violation of grade limits for steepness. The FGC fund-raise money and work to create awareness of the watershed and its importance to the area. The creek passes through Hilltop Green, under Interstate 80 via pipes, down a small canyon alongside Hilltop Plaza Shopping Center, and then through culverts to a gorge where it has been dammed to create Hilltop Lake. Garrity Creek is a U.S. Geological Survey. National Hydrography Dataset high-resolution flowline dataThe National Map, accessed March 15, 2011 creek in Richmond, California's Hilltop neighborhood. It runs into San Pablo Bay. It is sometimes called Hilltop Creek. The creek is supported by two springs, two separate legs which join into Garrity Creek in El Sobrante, California. The basin feeding this watershed was, for hundreds of years, a sacred fishing and hunting site for the Huchiun Band of the Native Ohlone at Garrity Creek & Along San Pablo Bay. Garrity Creek was a highly prized and sacred site because it provided food; acorns from tanbark, valley, coast and live oak trees, as well as buckeye trees. Background and education Garrity was raised in Lee's Summit, Missouri, and studied at Palm Beach Junior College in Florida.
