Garrett Groshek
Garrett Groshek (born August 2, 1997) is an American football running back for the Pittsburgh Maulers of the United States Football League (USFL). He played college football at Wisconsin. Profesional career Las Vegas Raiders Groshek was signed by the Las Vegas Raiders after going undrafted on May 7, 2021. He was waived on August 31, 2021. Minnesota Vikings On November 16, 2021 the Minnesota Vikings signed Groshek to the practice squad. On November 23, 2021 he was released from the practice squad. Pittsburgh Maulers Groshek was selected in the 27th round of the 2022 USFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Maulers. Groshek finished the 2023 season with 209 rushing yards and 1 touchdown, adding 6 catches for 48 yards. United States Football League (2022)
The United States Football League (USFL) is a professional American football minor league that began play on April 16, 2022. The inaugural 2022 regular season was played in its entirety in Birmingham, Alabama. The postseason games were played in Canton, Ohio, at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium. The league is currently owned by National Spring Football League Enterprises Co, LLC, a joint venture between founder Brian Woods and Fox Corporation's sports unit, Fox Sports in the United States. Although the league owns the trademarks of the old USFL, which operated for three seasons during the mid-1980s, the new USFL is not officially associated with that entity. 2023 USFL Championship Game
The 2023 USFL Championship Game was an American football game that was played on July 1, 2023, at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. The contest determined the champion of the 2023 USFL season and was played between the Pittsburgh Maulers and the Birmingham Stallions, eventually crowning Birmingham the champion of the league for the second year in a row. The game featured the number one defense in the league in Pittsburgh facing off against the number one offense in the league in Birmingham. After going up 3–0, the Maulers would fall after Alex McGough threw touchdown passes to Davion Davis and Deon Cain, the eventual MVP, and would never lead again. The Maulers would add additional field goals to go 12–28, though their continued lack of success on the offensive side of the ball would ultimately be the reason they lost the game. 2023 USFL Season
The 2023 USFL season was the second season of the United States Football League. The regular season started on April 15 and ended on June 18. The postseason began on June 24 and ended with the 2023 USFL Championship Game on July 1. The league expanded the locations their teams play to four total stadiums, adding Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, and Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee. With the league beginning its second season on April 15, the USFL became the first american spring league since the World League of American Football to complete its first season and return for a second. 2022 USFL Draft
The 2022 USFL Draft, also known as the 2022 USFL Player Selection Meeting, was the player selection process to fill the rosters of the eight teams for the 2022 USFL season. The draft was held on February 22–23, 2022, with results released through the USFL's social media channels. Structure The USFL player allocation process will be held in multiple phases, separated by position groups. The league will use a "snake" format in each phase, in which the draft order reversed with each round. The draft order will be shuffled for each phase as predetermined through lotteries. Amherst Junction, Wisconsin
Amherst Junction is a village in Portage County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 377 at the 2010 census. History Amherst Junction was created when the railroad first came through the county. It was a junction between two railroads: the Wisconsin Central and the Green Bay and Lake Pepin railroads. Until 1875, the community was referred to as Groversburg, presumably after the Grover family that held considerable property in the area. But when a post office was established in March 1875, it was called Amherst Junction. It was not until 1911 that the village was incorporated. By 1914, the village had become an important buying and shipping center for potatoes. Many people traveling to the eastern and northeastern parts of the county would detrain in Amherst Junction and hire a rig from a livery in the village to take them to their destination. American Football
American football (referred to simply as football in the United States and Canada), also known as gridiron, is a team sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end.
