Garment District, Montreal
The Garment District (french: Cité de la Mode) is a neighbourhood in the city of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is located primarily along Chabanel Street in the Ahuntsic neighbourhood of the Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough. The Chabanel Station (train) is located close by. History Montreal's Garment District was originally located downtown on De Maisonneuve Boulevard between Berri Street and Saint Laurent Boulevard. Furriers such as the Hudson's Bay Company and warehouses lined the streets in this area at the time. The Garment District later moved to the Mile End neighbourhood in the northernmost edge of the borough of Le Plateau-Mont-Royal. The massive 1960s buildings built by the fur traders along De Gaspé Street still stand today. It has since moved again to its current location, along Chabanel Street. Berri Street
Berri Street (officially in french: rue Berri) is a major north–south street located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Berri Street links De la Commune Street in the south and Somerville Street in the north. The street is interrupted between Rosemont Boulevard and Jean Talon Street. Berri Street has two lanes in either direction from De la Commune Street to Roy Street. It changes to one lane in either direction north of Roy Street. The street runs through two small tunnels, one under Notre-Dame Street and another under Sherbrooke Street. Berri Street has a bicycle lane from De la Commune Street to Sherbrooke Street. All Montreal Metro stations on the Orange Line between Berri-UQAM and Henri-Bourassa are located under Berri Street. Place Bonaventure
Place Bonaventure is an office, exhibition, and hotel complex in Downtown Montreal, Quebec, Canada, adjacent to the city's Central Station. At in size, Place Bonaventure was the second largest commercial building in the world at the time of its completion in 1967. It is one of very few buildings in Canada to have its own postal code prefix, H5A. History Place Bonaventure was first conceived as an exhibition hall, international trade centre, and hotel. Le Plateau-Mont-Royal () is a borough (''arrondissement'') of the city of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The Plateau-Mont-Royal takes its name from its location on a plateau, on the eastern side of Mont-Royal and overlooking downtown Montreal, across its southern border. Mile End is a neighbourhood and municipal electoral district in the city of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is part of the Plateau-Mont-Royal borough in terms of Montreal's municipal politics. The Hudson's Bay Company (HBC; french: Compagnie de la Baie d'Hudson) is a Canadian retail business group. A fur trading business for much of its existence, HBC now owns and operates retail stores in Canada.
