Judi Garman
Judith Fay Garman (born March 27, 1944) is a former college softball coach. She was the head softball coach at California State University, Fullerton, Cal State Fullerton from 1980 to 1999 and led Fullerton to the 1986 Women's College World Series championship. Before coaching at Fullerton, she was the head coach at Golden West College from 1972 to 1979 and led that school's softball team to four consecutive national junior college softball championships from 1976 to 1979. When Garman retired in 1999, she was the most successful coach in college softball history. Early years Garman was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the daughter of a Mennonite minister. A relief pitcher, he played for five different teams in Major League Baseball (MLB) between 1969 and 1978. He was a first-round draft selection of the Boston Red Sox in the 1967 MLB draft. Elspeth Garman
Elspeth Frances Garman is professor of molecular biophysics at the University of Oxford and a former President of the British Crystallographic Association. She is also Senior Kurti Research Fellow at Brasenose College, Oxford. The "Garman limit", which is the radiation dose limit of a cryocooled protein crystal, is named after her. Education and career Garman studied physics at Durham University and then moved to Linacre College, Oxford, for a doctorate in nuclear physics supervised by Kenneth Allen which she completed in 1980. She taught at Somerville College and switched to biophysics in 1987. Samuel Garman
Samuel Walton Garman (June 5, 1843 – September 30, 1927), or "Garmann" as he sometimes styled himself, was a naturalist/zoologist from Pennsylvania. He became noted as an ichthyologist and herpetologist. Biography Garman was born in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, on 5 June 1843. In 1868 he joined an expedition to the American West with John Wesley Powell. He graduated from the Illinois State Normal University in 1870, and for the following year was principal of the Mississippi State Normal School. In 1871, he became professor of natural sciences in Ferry Hall Seminary, Lake Forest, Illinois, and a year later became a special pupil of Louis Agassiz. He was a friend and regular correspondent of the naturalist Edward Drinker Cope, and in 1872 accompanied him on a fossil hunting trip to Wyoming. Kathleen Esther Garman, Lady Epstein (15 May 1901 – August 1979) was the third of the seven Garman sisters, who were high-profile members of artistic circles in mid-20th century London, renowned for their beauty and scandalous behaviour. Lorna Cecilia Garman Wishart (11 January 1911 – 12 January 2000) was the youngest of the nine children of Walter Garman, an eccentric medical doctor, and his wife Margaret.
