Garibaldi (group)
Garibaldi was a Mexican pop group, who wore a free version of the traditional charro costume while singing modern versions of traditional songs. Their dress and style of music caused controversy in their time. The name Garibaldi comes from Plaza Garibaldi in Mexico City where mariachi bands can be found. The group remained active from 1988 through 1994. The group was created by Mexican TV producer Luis de Llano Macedo during the celebration of the 175 years of Mexican Independence in the musical festival held in Acapulco, Guerrero. Reunion In 1999 the group reunited to record '' Reunion 10'', in celebration of 10 years from their commencement. The group was dissolved months later after a mild reception from the public. In 2010 the group reunited for a second time to record Garibaldi Bicentenario, in celebration of the 200 years of Mexican Independence. Xavier Ortiz
Xavier Ortiz Ramírez (June 29, 1962 or 1972 – September 7, 2020) was a Mexican actor, singer, model, producer, TV host, dentist/surgeon and entrepreneur and owner of bar-restaurant La Santa Bar in Guadalajara, Mexico. A former member of the 8-piece musical group Garibaldi, on April 17, 1999, he married another former member of the group Garibaldi, Patricia Manterola. Their relationship lasted 15 years, including 10 years as a couple and 5 years as husband and wife. Mexicana Universal is a national beauty pageant in Mexico held annually since 2018, replacing the former pageant, Nuestra Belleza México, held since 1994. Currently, the pageant is responsible for selecting the country’s delegates to Miss Universe, Miss International, Reina Hispanoamericana, Miss Charm International, and Nuestra Latinoamericana Universal. The current Mexicana Universal is Irma Miranda of Sonora, who will represent Mexico at Miss Universe 2022.
