Gargantua (film)
''Gargantua'' is an American 1998 giant monster television film, starring Adam Baldwin, Julie Carmen and Emile Hirsch. It was directed by Bradford May and written by Ronald Parker. The film was shot on location throughout Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. Plot On the island of Malau, marine biologist Jack Ellway (Adam Baldwin) studies the effect of seismic activity on the area's marine life. A string of mysterious drownings soon turns their research project into a beachfront disaster as Jack learns that a nearby underwater trench is home to a family of giant amphibians that have mutated after prolonged exposure to buried pesticides. As Jack and local doctor Alyson Hart (Julie Carmen) explore the surrounding ocean for the creatures, the military comes and tries to investigate. Ronald Parker is an American television screenwriter and producer. He is the co-author of the made-for-TV ''Joan of Arc'' with Leelee Sobieski and Peter O'Toole, ''Nuremberg'' with Alec Baldwin and Christopher Plummer, and Hatfields & McCoys with Kevin Costner. Early life Ronald Parker grew up in Hutchinson, Kansas and graduated from Hutchinson High School. He received his journalism degree from the University of Kansas in 1972. Rotten Tomatoes is an American review-aggregation website for film and television. The company was launched in August 1998 by three undergraduate students at the University of California, Berkeley: Senh Duong, Patrick Y. Lee, and Stephen Wang. Although the name "Rotten Tomatoes" connects to the practice of audiences throwing rotten tomatoes in disapproval of a poor stage performance, the original inspiration comes from a scene featuring tomatoes in the Canadian film ''Léolo'' (1992). Since January 2010, Rotten Tomatoes has been owned by Flixster, which was in turn acquired by Warner Bros in 2011. Tor Books is the primary imprint of Tor Publishing Group (previously Tom Doherty Associates), a publishing company based in New York City. It primarily publishes science fiction and fantasy titles, and is the largest publisher of Chinese science fiction novels in North America. Tony Briggs (born 3 July 1967) is an Australian actor, writer and producer. He is a former track and field athlete. He is best known for creating the stage play '' The Sapphires'' (later a 2012 film) telling the true story of an Aboriginal singing group, including his mother and aunt, who toured Vietnam during the war.
