Railway Stations In Alpes-Maritimes
Rail transport (also known as train transport) is a means of transport that transfers passengers and goods on wheeled vehicles running on rails, which are incorporated in tracks. In contrast to road transport, where the vehicles run on a prepared flat surface, rail vehicles (rolling stock) are directionally guided by the tracks on which they run. Tracks usually consist of steel rails, installed on sleepers (ties) set in ballast, on which the rolling stock, usually fitted with metal wheels, moves. Other variations are also possible, such as "slab track", in which the rails are fastened to a concrete foundation resting on a prepared subsurface. Rolling stock in a rail transport system generally encounters lower frictional resistance than rubber-tyred road vehicles, so passenger and freight cars (carriages and wagons) can be coupled into longer trains. The operation is carried out by a railway company, providing transport between train stations or freight customer facilit ... Buildings And Structures In Nice
A building, or edifice, is an enclosed structure with a roof and walls standing more or less permanently in one place, such as a house or factory (although there's also portable buildings). Buildings come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and functions, and have been adapted throughout history for a wide number of factors, from building materials available, to weather conditions, land prices, ground conditions, specific uses, prestige, and aesthetic reasons. To better understand the term ''building'' compare the list of nonbuilding structures. Buildings serve several societal needs – primarily as shelter from weather, security, living space, privacy, to store belongings, and to comfortably live and work. A building as a shelter represents a physical division of the human habitat (a place of comfort and safety) and the ''outside'' (a place that at times may be harsh and harmful). Ever since the first cave paintings, buildings have also become objects or canvasses of much artis ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Gare Du Sud
The Gare du Sud is a food court in the ''Libération'' quarter of the city of Nice in south-east France. It has been constructed within the buildings of the former railway station that bore the same name. The station was the terminus of the metre gauge railway of the Chemins de Fer de Provence rail company which links Nice to Digne-les-Bains in the department of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. The line, known as the Train des Pignes because it follows a scenic route through the mountains, has been served by a nearby replacement Nice terminus station, the Gare de Nice CP station, since the original station was closed in December 1991. The Gare du Sud site then remained derelict until 2013, when the station building was renovated and converted into a library. The remainder of the station site was subseqently redeveloped into a food court, shopping centre and cinema as part of project to regenerate the ''Libération'' quarter. The main entrance is through the train station's original, ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Nice CP Station
Nice CP station ( French: ''Gare de Nice CP'') is a small French railway station in Nice, France. It is the terminus of the Train des Pignes line, a metre-gauge railway which runs from Digne-les-Bains to Nice and is operated by Chemins de Fer de Provence. The station was opened in December 1991, replacing the old Gare du Sud station which had been built in 1890. The old station was sold to the council because it was in a poor state of repair and the council had redevelopment plans for the area, making repairs to the station not financially worthwhile. The new station was built a few hundred metres up the line to allow Nice city council to redevelop the old station site into a retail, catering and leisure complex. The new station was built in a modernist style which contrasts with that of every other station on the route. It is served by the Nice tramway The Nice tramway (french: Tramway de Nice) is a , triple-line tramway in the city of Nice in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, ... Le Mistral
''Le Mistral'', or the ''Mistral'', was an express train between Paris and Nice in France. Introduced in 1950, it was operated by the ''Société Nationale des Chemins de fer français'' ("French National Railway Corporation") ( SNCF), and was regarded as the company's flagship train. The train was named after the Mistral, a strong, cold and usually dry regional wind blowing from north or northwestern France to the coast of the Mediterranean around the Camargue region. History The ''Mistral'' began its existence in 1950 as a mostly steam locomotive-hauled ''Rapide'' (express train) between Paris-Gare de Lyon and Marseille-Saint-Charles. Two years later, in 1952, its route was extended to Nice-Ville. By 1965, when it was integrated into the Trans Europ Express (TEE) system, it had become completely electric locomotive-hauled. In the 1970s, ''Le Mistral'' included some unique amenities, among them a "bookstall, bar and hairdressing salon". Nock, O.S. (1978). ''World Atlas of ...
