Gare De Lyon-Saint-Paul
Lyon-Saint-Paul is a railway station in the 5th arrondissement of Lyon, France. It is located in the area of the same name at the northern end of the Vieux Lyon quarter, between the base of the Fourvière hill and the river Saône. The station is a terminus for local trains serving the western suburbs of the city. Since September 2012 the station is the city terminus of the Western Lyon Tram-Train, connecting Lyon with its western suburbs. History The railway station underwent significant renovations between 2008 and 2012. In addition to upgrades to passenger amenities, the 28 apartments on the second, third and fourth floors were renovated and re-opened in 2013. 5th Arrondissement Of Lyon
The 5th arrondissement of Lyon is one of the nine arrondissements of the City of Lyon. History The 5th arrondissement was created on 24 March 1852 (date of creation of the first five arrondissements). It is the historic center of Lyon. It is at Fourvière that Munatius Plancus founded the Roman colony of Lugdunum in 43 BC. It was in this arrondissement that the Roman and medieval Lyon flourishes just before crossing the Saône. Historic quarters of Lyon are well known, which are all touristic sites, but behind the Vieux Lyon and Fourvière, there are the residential areas of the Point du Jour, Champvert, Ménival, Saint-Irénée which remain misunderstood but still show traces of the Roman past of the city. Saint-Paul (Lyon)
Saint-Paul is a quarter located in the 5th arrondissement of Lyon, France. It was named after the parish church. Located in the perimeter saved registered to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is one of the three parishes of the Vieux Lyon, the historic center of the city. The quarter is mainly served by the line C3 of the transports en commun lyonnais and the train station named Gare de Lyon-Saint-Paul. Fourvière
Fourvière () is a district of Lyon, France, a hill immediately west of the old part of the town, rising from the river Saône. It is the site of the original Roman settlement of Lugdunum in 43 BC. Western Lyon Tram-Train
The tram-train de l'ouest lyonnais (in English, Western Lyon tram-train) is transport project in the urban area of Lyon in the region Rhône-Alpes to improve the traffic between the railway stations of Lyon-Saint-Paul to Brignais, L'Arbresle, Sain-Bel, and Lozanne. The project consists of the creation of three tram-train lines. Some rail lines have been doubled, platforms rebuilt, and stations modernised. The total cost of the project is around €150·2m. The Lyon tramway (french: Tramway de Lyon) comprises eight lines, seven lines operated by TCL and one by Rhônexpress in the city of Lyon in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France. The original tramway network in Lyon was developed in 1879, and the modern network was built in 2001.
