Gardênia Ribeiro Gonçalves
Gardênia Santos Ribeiro Gonçalves (born April 1, 1937 in Floriano, Piauí) is a Brazilian politician. She served as mayor of São Luís, from 1986 to 1989. Gonçalves was the spouse of João Castelo. During the 1980s when she was mayor, 15,000 employees lost their jobs. Floriano, Piauí
Floriano () is a Brazilian municipality in the state of Piauí. It was founded by the Arabs and Syrians. It is situated in the physiographic zone of the Médio Parnaíba, on the right side of the Parnaíba River, in front of the city of Barão de Grajaú, in the Maranhão. It is also intersected by the rivers Gurguéia and Itaueira. Generalities ;Vegetation Cerrado is the region's predominant vegetation, however there are places where there is a blend of caatinga as well. Regarding the agriculture, the highlights are the castanha de caju and the mandioca. ;Climate Because of its location in the state's interior region, Floriano shows a semi-arid tropical climate. São Luís (; "Saint Louis") is the capital and largest city of the Brazilian state of Maranhão. João Castelo Ribeiro Gonçalves (October 19, 1937 – December 11, 2016) was a Brazilian politician and lawyer who was Governor of Maranhão, Brazil from March 15, 1979, to May 15, 1982. Biographical data Son of Tales of Amarante Ribeiro Gonçalves and Maria Antonieta Cruz Ribeiro Gonçalves. A registered administrative technician at the Federal Council, he was assistant to the Cabinet of Mayor Carlos Vasconcelos in São Luís until he became an employee of the Banco da Amazônia in 1956, eventually occupying one of his boards before joining politics.
