Gardiki, Trikala
Gardiki (Greek: Γαρδίκη) is a village and a community in the Trikala regional unit of Greece's Thessaly region. It is part of the municipal unit of Aithikes. The 2011 census recorded 58 residents in the village and 143 in the community. Administrative division The community of Gardiki comprises two settlements: *Gardiki (population 58, 2011 census) *Palaiochori (population 85, 2011 census) History The village occupies the site of the ancient town of Pellinaeum or Pelinna. The ancient town survived until the early Byzantine period, but disappears thereafter only to reappear under the name of Gardiki in the 11th century. The Byzantine settlement was built on the ruins of the ancient citadel, with the foundations of the ancient wall providing the base of the later medieval fortifications. Gardikaki
Oiti ( el, Οίτη), formerly Gardikaki (Γαρδικάκι), is a village on Mount Oeta in Phthiotis, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality of Lamia, and of the municipal unit of Gorgopotamos. The nearby settlement of Skamnos also belongs to the community of Oiti. Anavryto ( el, Αναβρυτό, before 1927: Γαρδίκι - ''Gardiki'') is a mountain village and a community in the municipal unit Falaisia, Arcadia, Greece. The community consists of the villages Anavryto and Kato Anavryto, 1 km south of Anavryto. Both villages are on the southwestern slope of mount Tsemperou. Gardiki Castle, Arcadia
Gardiki Castle was a medieval fortress and settlement in southern Arcadia, Greece. History Gardiki existed as a settlement before the 13th century. Its name, which derives from a Slavic term for "small fort", demonstrates the naturally fortified nature of the site, even before the construction of the castle. The castle of Gardiki was built sometime after 1284, and was in Byzantine hands by 1297, when the Princess of Achaea, Isabella of Villehardouin, constructed the fortress of Chateneuf to protect the inhabitants of the plains of Messenia and Arcadia from the raids of the Byzantine troops based in the region around Gardiki and Mystras. Indeed, it is likely that the castle was built by the Byzantines, as it is not recorded that it was ever held by the Latins of Achaea. Gardiki Castle, Corfu
Gardiki Castle ( gr, Κάστρο Γαρδικίου) is a 13th-century Byzantine castle on the southwestern coast of Corfu and the only surviving medieval fortress on the southern part of the island. It was built by a ruler of the Despotate of Epirus, and was one of three castles which defended the island before the Venetian era (1401–1797). Filiates ( el, Φιλιάτες; ) is a town and a municipality in Thesprotia, Greece. It is located in the northernmost part of the regional unit, bordering western Ioannina regional unit and southern Albania. Name The region of Filiates was known as Cestrine prior to the Ottoman period. The region is named for the ancient town of Cestria, in ancient Epirus, other ancient names for which were Cammania, Ilion, Epirus, Troy, Epirus and Troia and Epirusis; the site of ancient Cestria is probably over the Albanian frontier. The modern name Filiates is the result of the conversion of a surname. According to Eqrem Çabej, Idriz Ajeti and Ali Dhrimo, it contains the Albanian suffix -at, widely used to form toponyms from personal names and surnames.
