Garden Village, Kentucky
Garden Village is an unincorporated community in Pike County, Kentucky. It is located on the Levisa Fork of the Big Sandy River, below the Peyton Branch and southeast of Pikeville. History It was founded as Liberty upon the creation of the county in 1822, with the intention of the community becoming the seat of local governance. Micklefield is a village and civil parish east of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It neighbours Garforth, Aberford and Brotherton and is close to the A1 Motorway. It is in the City of Leeds metropolitan borough. The population as of the 2011 Census was 1,893, increased from 1,852 in 2001. Geography The village is typical of Yorkshire's former coal mining communities with its mix of local authority and private houses. The village has undergone a rapid expansion in recent years with former commercial premises being demolished to make way for new private housing. Nipissing First Nation ( oj, Niipsing, meaning place of the elms) is a long-standing community of Nishnaabeg peoples located along the shorelines of Lake Nipissing in northern Ontario. They are referred to by many names in European historical records, since the colonists often adopted names given to them by other nations. The Nipissing are part of the Anishinaabe peoples, a grouping of people speaking Algonquin languages, which includes the Odawa, Ojibwe, Potawatomi, and Algonquins. This broad heritage is likely the result of the Nipissings' living at a geographical crossroads, a watershed divide. Garden Village is a suburb of the city of Wrexham and an electoral division (ward) in the community of Rhosddu in Wrexham County Borough, Wales. The population of the ward at the 2011 Census was 2,035 It lies to the west of Chester Road and borders the wards of Stansty to the south and east, Gwersyllt East and South to the north west, Little Acton and Acton to the west, and a small section of Gresford to the north. The Garden Village is an area of model village housing built in the early 1900s, in the Summergangs area of Kingston upon Hull, England, for the workers of Reckitt & Sons. History and description The village was built on of land by the 'Hull Garden Village Co.', a company with £200,000 of capital of which two-thirds was contributed by Sir James Reckitt, and with two-thirds of the housing reserved for his workers. The company's dividends were limited to 3%. The estate opened in 1908, its design was influenced by the ideas of the Garden city movement. The design was by architects Percy Runton and William Barry. Alkrington Garden Village is a suburban area of Middleton, in the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, Greater Manchester England. Historically a part of Lancashire, in the Middle Ages Alkrington was a township in the parish of Prestwich-cum-Oldham in the hundred of Salford. Once rolling farmland, in 1886 Alkrington was added to the Municipal Borough of Middleton, and developed into a residential area. Alkrington lies on the northern edge of the city of Manchester with the suburb of Blackley directly to the south. Langarth Garden Village is a planned community near Truro, Cornwall, England. History In 2021, planning permission was granted for 3,550 homes on the edge of Truro. At completion Langarth Garden Village will house 10,000 people. The plans to build the village are supported by Cornwall Council. The council has invested £160 million into the project. The homes are proposed to be built over a period of 20 to 25 years. The project is one of 14 garden villages proposed by the government.
