Garan Croft
Garan Croft is a Welsh amateur boxer who won a silver medal at the 2022 European Championships. His twin brother, Ioan, is also an amateur boxer. The twins come from Crymych. Garan Croft fights at light-middleweight, whilst his brother fights in the welterweight division. The brothers took up boxing together at Cardigan ABC. Crymych
Crymych () is a village of around 800 inhabitants and a community (population 1,739) in the northeast of Pembrokeshire, Wales. It is situated approximately above sea level at the eastern end of the Preseli Mountains, on the old Tenby to Cardigan turnpike road, now the A478. The village developed around the former Crymmych Arms railway station on the now-closed Whitland to Cardigan Railway, nicknamed ''Cardi Bach'' (Little Cardi). Crymych, which is twinned with Plomelin in Brittany, has an elected community council. The 2022 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXII Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Birmingham 2022, was an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth of Nations that took place in Birmingham, England between 28 July and 8 August 2022. Birmingham was announced as host on 21 December 2017. The Games marked England's third time hosting the Commonwealth Games after London 1934 and Manchester 2002, and the 7th Games held in the United Kingdom, with previous events in Wales and Scotland: Cardiff 1958, Edinburgh 1970 and 1986 and Glasgow 2014. The Games was the largest ever held, with 72 participating nations and over 1.3 million ticket sales. Amateur Boxer
Amateur boxing is a variant of boxing practiced at the collegiate level, at the Olympic Games, Pan American Games and Commonwealth Games, as well as many associations. Amateur boxing bouts are short in duration, comprising three rounds of three minutes in men, and four rounds of two minutes in women, each with a one-minute interval between rounds. Men's senior bouts changed in format from four two-minute rounds to three three-minute rounds on January 1, 2009.
