Carrillo Gantner
Carrillo Baillieu Gantner (born June 17th, 1944) is an American-Australian, who is noted as a Victorian cultural leader and philanthropist and a member of the Melbourne retailing Myer family. Biography He was born in San Francisco, California, the son of Neilma Gantner with philanthropist and author Vallejo Gantner, and grandson of Merlyn Myer and Sidney Myer, founder of the Myer retail chain. His most well known achievement lies in the area of founding theatres and theatre companies. He founded the Playbox Theatre in 1976 and in the late 1980s was the driving force for the building of the Malthouse Theatre complex which opened in 1990. He was president of the Myer Foundation 2004-2010 and is currently Chairman of the Sidney Myer Fund, the Myer family’s two philanthropic arms. Edward James Gantner Jr. (February 4, 1959 – December 31, 1990) was an American professional wrestler and American football player. Early life Edward James Ganter Jr. was born in Orlando, Florida, the youngest of four children. Ed was the only son with three older sisters. By the time he was three years old, his father would throw him a football hard enough to knock him down, only to get back up and throw it back. His mother and sisters never recall Gantner having a knack for football. He was considered a "puny little runt," all the way through junior high school. Joseph Gantner
Joseph Gantner (Baden, Canton Aargau, Switzerland 11 September 1896—Basel 7 April 1988) was a Swiss art historian. His father Alfred Gantner, a manager at Brown Boveri, and his wife Marie (née Wächter), a midwife. In 1932 Joseph Gantner married Maria Hanna Dreyfus. Gantner's studies took him to the universities at Zurich, Basel, Geneva, and finally to Munich, where he completed a doctorate in 1920 under Heinrich Wölfflin (1864–1945). He also spent a semester in Rome with Adolfo Venturi. His ''Habilitationsschrift'' was completed in 1926. From 1922 or 1923 to 1927 he was Editor of the periodical ''Das Werk'' and later also of ''Das neue Frankfurt''. From 1927 until 1932 Gantner taught at the ''Kunstschule'' in Frankfurt-am-Main. Neilma Bailieu Gantner (7 November 1922 – 15 June 2015) was an Australian philanthropist and author who wrote as Neilma Sidney. Early life and education Born in San Francisco, California on 7 November 1922, Neilma Baillieu Myer was the elder daughter of Merlyn (née Baillieu) and Sidney Myer. The family moved back to Melbourne, Australia in 1929. In 1952, following her divorce, she studied for a Bachelor of Arts in English literature and creative writing at Stanford University. Career Gantner returned to Melbourne with her two sons in 1954. In 1955 she was a member of the Victorian board of the International Social Service. In mid-1955 she was responsible for signing up hundreds of subscribers to ''Meanjin,'' prior to its 15th anniversary. In the same year she self-published her first collection of short stories.
