Gannon Moore
Gannon Moore (born June 1, 1990) is an American rugby union player who plays for the United States men's national team and the Utah Warriors in Major League Rugby (MLR). Moore has previously played for North Harbour in the Mitre 10 Cup, the Denver Stampede of PRO Rugby, and the Kansas City Blues. While attending Southwest Minnesota State University, Moore was a running back for four-years on the university football team. Early life Moore was born on June 1, 1990, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the son of Doug Moore and Celeste Moore. Moore attended Lincoln High School, where he played football and during that time, he first began playing rugby at the age of 15. The Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs (also SMSU Mustangs and formerly Southwest State Mustangs) are the athletic teams that represent Southwest Minnesota State University, located in Marshall, Minnesota, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. The Ohio Aviators are an American rugby union team that played professionally in the short lived PRO Rugby competition. They are based in the Columbus, Ohio metropolitan area, and played their home games at Memorial Park in Obetz, Ohio. They are now playing in the newly formed World Tens Series. History PRO Rugby announced on February 9, 2016 the addition of Columbus, Ohio as the league's third team. The selection of Columbus came as somewhat of a surprise, because the original PRO Rugby announcement in November 2015 did not mention that the competition planned to place a team in the midwest in the inaugural season. 2016 PRO Rugby Season
The 2016 PRO Rugby season was the inaugural and only season of the PRO Rugby, contested by teams from the United States. The season ran from April to July 2016. This was the first season of professional rugby union in North America. PRO Rugby contracted 102 players for its five teams. Of these 102 players, 54 have played international rugby, including 36 for the United States national rugby union team. About 30 players were picked from Pacific Rugby Premiership teams and 15 from Midwest Rugby Premiership teams. Competition format Each team played a twelve match schedule with six matches at home and six away. Most matches took place on Sunday to give clubs and schools the chance to play on Saturday and Friday. In gridiron football, a reception, also known informally as a catch, is part of a passing play in which a player in bounds successfully catches (receives) a forward pass thrown from a friendly quarterback behind the line of scrimmage.
