Gangsteritus
"Gangsteritus" is a song by British rappers Potter Payper and Tiggs Da Author. In April 2022, it became his first song to reach the UK Top 40 and was used in British television crime drama '' Top Boy''. Background In an interview with '' Complex'', Potter Payper called it the favourite song from his mixtape, ''Thanks for Waiting''. He went on to say that while he did not like the song at first, after it he did the spoken word, the song "had a new depth and a new meaning". Various publications and music commentators hailed it as a modern classic and one of the great British rap singles of its time. The song was featured in the Netflix series Top Boy at the climax of the season closing out the finale episode. A Part 2 of the track with a feature from Nines was later released. Jamel Bousbaa (born 15 November 1990), known professionally as Potter Payper, is a British rapper and songwriter from Barking, London. In 2021, he signed to the UK division of Def Jam Recordings. In 2022, " Gangsteritus" - recorded with Tiggs Da Author - became his first UK Top 40 single after its use in ''Top Boy''. Early life Jamel Bousbaa was born to an Irish mother and an Algerian father. He grew up on the Gascoigne Estate in Barking, London being raised by his grandmother. Personal life Potter has had on and off trouble with the law throughout his life. Show N Prove, born Ellis Taylor, is a Scottish music producer, DJ and musical artist from Edinburgh, Scotland. Music production career Show N Prove's career began when working with local acts in the Edinburgh hip hop scene in the early 2000s, where he received a breakthrough working with rapper Baby Blue by producing the track "Sometimes". ''Top Boy'' is a British television crime drama series, created and written by Ronan Bennett. The series is set in the fictional Summerhouse estate in the London Borough of Hackney and focuses on two drug dealers Dushane ( Ashley Walters) and Sully (Kane Robinson) along with others involved with drug-dealing and gang violence in London. There are 26 episodes across four series. The first two series was broadcast on Channel 4, with the first series airing over four consecutive nights from 31 October to 3 November 2011 and the second series airing from 20 August to 10 September 2013.
