Gamla stan is a station on the Green and Red lines of the Stockholm metro. Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. An alternative arrangement is to position side platforms on either side of the tracks. The historical use of island platforms depends greatly upon the location. T-Centralen
T-Centralen (Swedish for "The T-Central"; T being an abbreviation for "tunnelbana", the Swedish word for "underground" or "subway") is a metro station that forms the heart of the Stockholm metro system, in the sense that it is the only station where all three of the system's lines meet. That, its central location, and its connections with other modes of transport make it the busiest station in the system. The station is located in the Norrmalm borough of Stockholm, between Sergels torg (Sergel's Square) and the street of Vasagatan. On a winter day in 2018, some 340,000 passengers (174,550 boarding and 166,850 alighting) travelled to or from the metro station. It is connected by a pedestrian underpass to the neighbouring Stockholm Central Station across Vasagatan (for national and regional trains) and to the Cityterminalen long-distance bus terminal, making it easy to continue a journey started by metro train. Hötorget Metro Station
Hötorget, formerly known as Kungsgatan, is an underground station on the Green line of the Stockholm metro. It is situated near to the Hötorget square in the borough of Norrmalm in central Stockholm, and lies below Sveavägen between its junctions with and . The station has three entrances, one at each end and one in the middle from Kungsgatan. The central entrance includes an underground square with several shops and stores. The distance to Slussen is . The station was inaugurated on 26 October 1952 as the east terminus of the stretch between Hötorget and Vällingby. Slussen Metro Station
Slussen is a station of the Stockholm metro, located in Slussenområdet in the district of Södermalm. The station is served by the Red and Green lines. Originally opened in 1933 as an underground tram stop, on 1 October 1950 it became the terminal of the first metro line running south to Hökarängen, it was again rebuilt when the extension of the line north to Hötorget was opened on 24 November 1957. On 5 April 1964, the first stretch of the Red line, between T-Centralen and Fruängen, was opened. Just outside the northern entrance to the metro station, there is a bus terminal for buses to the Nacka and Värmdö municipalities. The terminus for the Saltsjöbanan railway was also located here, but it was moved to Henriksdal in 2016 due to the reconstruction of Slussen. Munkbrohamnen (Swedish: "Monk's Bridge Harbour") is a quay and a footway passing along the western waterfront of Gamla stan, the old town in central Stockholm, Sweden. Munkbroleden (Swedish: "Monk's Bridge Route") is a busy street passing along the western waterfront of Gamla stan, the old town in central Stockholm, Sweden. Mälartorget ( sv, Square of Mälaren) is a public square in Gamla stan, the old town in central Stockholm, Sweden, named after its location on the western waterfront of the old town facing Lake Mälaren. Connected to the square are the streets and alleys Munkbrogatan, Schönfeldts Gränd, Tyska Brinken, and Lejonstedts Gränd, while the traffic route Munkbroleden separates it from the quay.
